a few questions...
after all the time i have this bass i've never cleaned it... can i clean it with lemon oil and then wax it (the warwick site says it's a satin finish !) or just a wet cloth does the job? (i usually clean the fretboard with lemon oil and wax it, it's just the body i'm not sure!)
the other question it's more tricky... sometimes i feel that the bass sounds kind of hollow (more on the b string) does anyone feel the same and have you "solved" that? (it's not a major issue but...)
 
No waxing a satin finish m8. Wet cloth should do the trick.

+1. Cloth on the body, lemon oil on the neck and fretboard.

As far as the hollow sound, not sure. What kind of strings are you using? Have you tried different brands as well? Does your right hand pick/strum closer to the bridge or neck?

When I had EMP's on my LX it sounded a bit hollow on the thicker strings. It was tight and sounded ok but just different. I also notice the more you strum closer to the neck the hollower it gets in tone. I now have Elixirs on it and don't have that hollowed tone.

It may be just the way the bass sounds, but I think with certain strings, technique and maybe some EQ settings you could help it.

As the oters said, wet cloth is enough, and lemon oil for fingerboard :-)

The bass is fine, the reason for that hollow sound can be the strings, or the way you put them.
Be sure you press down the thick strings over the nut and saddles, so they make a straight angle, not a curve.

i've used several string brands(warwick, emp) and at some point they all sounded hollow... i'll check the way the strings are over the nut and saddles next time i change (and i'll try daddarios on this bass!).
i tend to pluck all the way back, usually on top of the bridge pup!

There's your problem. Any string will make the blonde sound 'hollow' if you play on top of the bridge PU. Playing a bass which has such great response comes with great responsibility. Try playing near the neck pickup and right next to the last fret. Your bass will kick ass and sound ultra phatt!

If you want to keep playing at the bridge pickup, consider adding an external EQ. I always kick in some extra low end with my MXR bass DI plus when playing the '89 Dolphin for just this reason. The MXR has a 3 band EQ.
 
i get what you're saying but i'm used to play all the way back... it's unconscious, i guess that having amps with low punch made play like that for a long time, and i always felt that i had to have a punchy sound, i've played many years in metal bands with 2 guitars and sometimes a keyboard or 2 (and when the band didn't had 2 guitars i felt it lacked something even on a pop/rock covers band i had for a while!). i can play all over (neck to bridge) but when i don't think about it, my hand goes for the bridge pup.
 
Get yourself a Rickenbacker 4003. :) They sound amazing when played near the bridge.
 
you're the second guy that says that to me... the first was the sound engineer the first time i went to record in a pro studio about 15 years ago ;)

Since we're already zombie threadin' around here: I have a dirty blonde too, and I understand what you mean by "hollow". It does not have the same punch or immediacy in the midrange as the ordinary thumbs do. It sounds different, and yes, you could describe that as more hollow.

I had the same effect with my Streamer BO 5-string. The B string sounded hollow, or "glassy" and that´s why was weaker than the other strings. How I solved it? I sold the bass and got an SS1 5 string. Mighty B!!!
