Same thing in my eyes. The Explorer is an axe and the thunderbird is a hammer. Though I will say Warwick have definitely improved the design. I tried a Thunderbird last year and hated it. Access past the 15th fret is non existent. And I really dislike big neck joints, they just get in the way. All I want to do is go up an octave for some extra drive.

Aye, you're so right about that. I have an Epiphone Thunderbird and it's really the worst bass ever ergonomics-wise. The damn thing made my left hand very strong (of course the neck dive could be helped) and broke my right wrist. And yes the upper fret access is pretty bad.
