So I am just beyond excited for this bass. This one is German (as I am sure you all know) with a Wenge neck and a lined Ebony finger board. From the pictures it looks like it has never even been played, not a single sign of wear! I just want to see what you guys think of the tone of a fretless with a Wenge neck and bubinga body. I didn't do much research on it beyond what I could recall about the woods but from what I could remember it's going to be amazing. Hopefully it will be the growlier, darker brother to my Proline (which I recently found out has active pups and pre). And before you comment on the weight I am a relatively large/in shape guy with a very nice padded strap ;) so no worries there (that and I won't be playing it too much live). What do you guys think? I will post pics as soon as it arrives.
 
What do i think? i think you are a lucky bass-tard! Fretless, wenge necked 6 sounds like an awesome bass!
 
I have a four string STD, and I must admit, it is a monster of tone. It is more aggressive than my Thumb BO, I guess that's because Bubinga is more meaner than Ovangkol. The thumb BO has a wenge neck & active 2 band and the STD has an onvangkol neck.

Hey thanks florin! I have some pics for you guys now, I am so happy with this bass. It plays so amazing and the Wenge neck feel like a dream. I got off of eBay for $400 less then the price tag that was still on it (which was already really low). The is almost no signs of wear at all, like it sat in it's case the whole time (which is surprising bc even the fretboard has hardly any wear from the strings). The tone is unreal and I haven't even had a chance to play it through my full rig yet (I used my little fender practice amp). I wanted to record a little demo of it for you guys but my interface device decided to stop syncing with my comp so you guys will have to wait until I figure it out.
 
A recent development that was just brought up, is this bass custom shop? I don't know what years they used what necks but when I put my other basses in the serial # tracker tool they show up with all of the info. For this bass it says "Serial Number not found!". The serial is B-094529-02.

I think it is, because in 02 it was ovankol as standard. If you have the tag, you should have a code for your bass. If it starts with 1 is stadard, 0 is Custom Shop.
 
Nope, no tag. I think if the store I bought it from knew it was custom shop they probably would have advertised it as such to get more money for it. So there's no other way besides taking photos and sending them in (the way they explain when you look up the serial number)? It looks like a standard in every other way.
 
Standard or custom who gives? That is one seriously mean looking fretless you got there bro! Congrats with your new baby.
 
I am going to send pics and info to Warwick like it says on the site to find out for sure. I just want to be able to say it's custom! It's an amazing bass regardless. I will post when I find out.
 
I would kill for one of those! I had a std 4 me tone was so aggressive and articulate. My streamer fretless is close bu not quite as aggresive. Its got it's own mojo that I just love, but for cutting through the mix fretless power the vette std ain't no slouch.
 
So I got a response from Warwick. As it turns out it's just a Corvette Standard. I don't know if they all came with Wenge necks at that time or if it was an option or what but they didn't mention anything special about the bass.
 
As I told you, for 2002 it was not standard to have a Wenge neck. So I guess it is a custom order :-)

I figured that meant that there was no custom shop shenanigans going on with this bass, but if you say that Wenge was not an option at that time Florin I believe you. Either way I love this bass and intend to never sell it no matter what kind of financial troubles I may get into. I appreciate all the help from everyone on this forum, not just on this thread but throughout my existence here, thank you all! And since I am here, I finally set it up for drop B tuning and man, this bass is amazing. I think I love it in drop tunings more then in standard. The high string isn't too high and the low one is, well just low enough without being too low. As soon as I get my recording setup working again I will post with some demos of this bass.
 
I've seen basses up to 1999 having wenge as standard, but not 2002... Being a 6 strings it is possible maybe to be a neck left somewhere... But most likely it was ordered with wenge.
 
Isnt lined fretless also an extra? wicks never had lined FL as standard did they?
