Much Difficulty Adjusting Bridge!!

So, just got a 2007 Corvette Bubinga the other day. The action was low already, but I figured, hey, why not try and make it just a tad lower to get that extra tone and pliability. Read the manual on how to adjust the bridge. So I Loosened both of the locking screws and tightened the rest of the screws. Then the bridge got on this weird slant, where it was slanted towards the pickups, so loosened the screws a but, and the bridge began making this popping noise like it's coming out of the wood. I looked at it, and the bridge is now very high as to where you can see inside the bass. The action is also pretty high now too, not to the point where it's unplayable, but definetly not what I prefer.

First off, I'm just wondering if it is "technically" okay for the bridge to be this high, and is my bass in any danger.

Also, if it is normal, how can I fix it? I've tried tightening the screws and one of them will not tighten, and when I tighten the other ones nothing really happens. Should I attempt to fix it, or just take it to a luthier to either repair or set it up correctly for me?

Any advice is greatly appreciated, and here are some pictures to show you what I'm talking about.

Carrera, you had a factory set up from me when you received the bass. That is, everything was set to factory dimensions ie 2.5mm gap between the last fret and the E string and 2mm between the fret and the G string. Looks like you raised the bridge right out of the mounting plate. Best thing at this point is to loosen the strings, and turn out the height adjustment screws so that the bridge can be reset into the hole and plate under the bridge. Then follow the manual (in your user kit) to properly adjust the bridge.
 
Took the advice, and damn me for being greedy for low action lol. I think I tightened the screws to the pickups too tight, and it slanted the bridge and screwed it all up. I just loosened everyhting on the bridge and pushed it back down into the bass, and that seemed to do the trick. I tightened the bolts back up, and I think I got it back to even better than it was!
 
Glad to hear that you got everything sorted out. The 3D bridge is really amazing with how precise it can be. Now...go enjoy that bass!!

It is not uncommon to see the bridge very high, so there is a gap below. I even think it looks cool :)

Actually if the bridge is way up high you can stash a pik in there for emergencies....it might dent the body a bit though. i hvae done in a couple times when i was downtuning and my action was way off the board.
 
Hahaha, that's actually not a bad idea! Good thinking, a pick can slide very easily into the bridge slot.
 
Sometimes I just keep a spare pick in the crack of me arse! Fits there too! :D :D :X :D

One more general question about bass setup, is it normal that the neck has a concave bend in the middle? For example the action is higher at the 12th fret than it is at the 1st fret or 24th fret. When I look down the neck from the headstock, the neck curves inward in the middle and then back out again, but there is no forward or back bow, just the bit of concavity in the middle.
 
That's exactly how the neck should be. Press the string down at the first and last fret and the distance should be .6 to 1mm between the string and the 7th fret.
 
Yes, indeed. You should have the truss rod adjusted to have the width of approximately 2 business cards between the string and the 7th fret, with the string pressed down at the first and last fret. Hope this helps. Thanks!
 
Thanks guys! Perhaps I'm being just a bit too OCD about this bass! I've inspected it up and down, and it's so perfect, just want to keep it that way, until it's old and the imperfections make it better. Thanks again for all of the help, and again thanks for selling me this beauty Jeff.
