Mount my Profet 3.2 into a self made bass combo...

Hey,

Next monday I will be a proud owner of a tubepath 10.1 head...The problem is that i cannot easily sell my 3.2 profet head.
So i thought building a bass cab with a 15'' speaker (in order to mount the head in the cab) and convert my profet into a really strong bass combo.
I have searched on the inetrnet but i could nowhere find this project...

Can anyone help me with the dimensions matter and give me some advises???

I think that's a nice idea! A lot of combo's just use the same amp part as they sell seperately. Think Ashdown. The MAG300 is available as head and as a combo.

I think you just have to measure up a good 115. Make a cab in that size PLUS the room for the head on top of it. Make the cab a bit like a H shape with the amp on top of the horizontal piece of wood. Erm, English isn't my mother tongue, so I hope you onderstand it.

BTW: Of course you can choose to put the amp in it horizontal like the Ashdowns or vertical at the back, more like Fender guitar amps or Eden Nemesis combos.

Check the specs of Sweet 25.3, it is actually using a pro - fet amp

The best single 15" speaker for all-round bass purposes is the Eminence Kappalite 3015. You can find Eminence's cab designs for this speaker (three different sizes). Or...build your speaker box out of 12mm ply (with some bracing) so it's 47cm x 74cm x 30cm (W/H/D) and use 2 x 4" diameter vent tubes of 11.8cm length each. This will produce you a very good cab.

The 'stickies' on the BassChat forum (here) has a long and good DIY cab building thread - 7th sticky down today. TalkBass forum has some good stuff as well.

This thread is about building a 2x10", but there's a lot of good pictures and wood-working info, bracing etc. that you could use when building your cab.
