Most common models/years with wenge neck?

There is no shortage of threads with custom shop and nt basses with wenge necks. But, for those who don't have the cash do throw down on one of these beauties, I was hoping someone could shed some light on which non CS, BO models have wenge necks. Any help is much appreciated!
 
recon anything 2013 and later will mainly have wenge. It wont be long before a few of the new generation wenge necks will start coming up second hand and B stock.
 
And in a few short years Ovangkol neck Warwicks will be coveted and highly sought after.

The golden era of ovangkol! When necks were fat, bridges were alloy, wicks didnt cost a billion dollars and the nuts would have bits snap off just by looking at them too hard!
 
Oh c'mon... I've had I don't know how many JAN II basses, and never had an ear snap off. :D

User error I say. Easy to break if you do the wrong thing admittedly, but user error nonetheless.

And since 2009 the slim Ovangkol necks have been gorgeous!

True it is user error....but you cant even put the bass upside down with the strings off......

BTW i meant it about the fat necks. LOVE them. The new profile is good, but it feels too insubstantial in my hands, like a Jazz or ibby.

Basses made until 1997 - 1998 had Wenge necks, then after 2013 :-)
If you ask me (I know you don't...) just buy the bass you like, wenge or not, Warwick was always awesome.
 
Agreed. I love Wenge, but I love Ovangkol equally well. Given two basses of the same spec except the neck timber I'd have trouble picking one. I think I'd just have to settle for both. I do prefer the slimmer neck profile over the fat necks though :D My Ash 'Vette with the slim neck profile kicked my old Bubinga fat necked 'Vette out of the house!

Great advice. The main reason I am looking for a lower cost wenge option is because I have never seen one (edit- because of rarity in my area, not for any lack of trying, so I can't try before buying) and I am thinking about taking the plunge based on all the positive things said about wenge necks. Unfortunately there is not a warwick dealer for at least 100 miles in any direction. Otherwise, I would totally consider a new BO. I do plan on keeping my thumb with ovangkol, and my maple necked fortress, so if I can find wenge neck bass I will have a well rounded BO collection!

And the SLAMMIN' pre-owned market for ovangkol necked Warwicks is more evidence!

I've never personally witnessed a JAN-II with its ears intact.

Legends tell of the last intact JAN-II, hidden deep within the vaults at a markneukirchen castle. It is kept an a box made from the femurs of saints, in a safe with walls a foot thick, and to enter the room where that safe is kept you need to play a bass chord so complex even Steve Bailey can't nail it.

These legends say that whomever is brave and nimble enought to get to the fabled JAN-II will probably drop it, say "bugger" and buy a JAN-III the very next day!
 
The last remaining tab fell off my thumb this week when I removed the strings to wax the fretboard. I swear, all I did was look at it and it fell to the floor :/

But... but... think about the contrarians!!! The ones who think Warwick at their most mass-produced will eventually become golden age instruments!
