Warwick basses are a serious addiction. There should be a support group. We could have one hell of a jam session. :D

My addiction just brought me to ordering my second Warwick custom shop in as many months. I'll be a very happy camper in a year from now when I finally get them!!

Both are Corvettes. The first is a 4-stringer fretted, and the second is a six-stringer fretless. For some reason I've always been partial to the Corvettes. :D

The 4 string has a three-layered body, 13mm of Karelin birtch/16mm Amaranth/13mm Mahogany with each layer separated with a 1mm veneer of ebony. The neck is a standard Corvette neck with a matching birtch headstock. It will have an MEC J/TJ pickup configuration with an MEC 3-band EQ, gold hardware, and a D-tuner.

The fretless six-string will have a quilted maple top on a swamp ash body with a cherry sunburst finish and gold hardware (yes, looking very much like the custom streamer that was pictured on this site!). It will have Bartolini Soap bar pickups with a 2-band Bartolini EQ. It will also have a Piezo bridge pickup as well.

On a side note, I know there have been lots of discussion about this in the past, but I just got a call back from the store where I placed the order, and they told me the basses do not come with cases, but I thought all custom shops did..... Has anyone not received a case with their custom shop?

kho, I think this forum is as close to a support group for Warwick junkies as you can get.

It's a disease and I expect to be sick for the rest of my life!

It seems to me that in other threads it was mentioned that custom shop Warwicks came with hardshell cases, but since mine are all standard models, I can't comment first-hand.
 
yeah all customs should come with a hard case..even ordering only a custom color i think :wink:
 
I hope they give you a case. I at least got a bag with my Corvette, and it's not custom shop. Warwick wouldn't want you denting up your new baby right out of the box...That would just be mean!!
 
All basses come with a Rockbag by Warwick Gig Bag, I would have to look into it to make sure all custom shop instruments come with a Hardshell Case, but I am almost 100% positive on this. I'll keep you posted on this.
 
Congrats on the customs! I am also very fond of the Vettes and I think you made great choices of woods. Long, long, waiting time though...

umm yeah man my names greg,& i'm a warwickaholic.
 
I recently got my 5 string 'Vette$$ and it has a non-standard 3 band eq. Apparently this counts as a custom order - you can see it on the latest custom shop page, it's the tobacco brown one. I've never liked gig-bags so I was pleasantly surprised when I went to pick it up and it was wheeled out in a flight case that looks like it could withstand a thermo-nuclear blast.
 
this is true,the rockcase can take anything some pissy airline baggage handler can dish out. :lol: even qantas.
 
Thanks everyone for your input, and thanks Oliver for checking on that! I thought all Warwicks came with at least a gig bag. The store where I got them from is going to check with the US distributor Dana B. Goods on this too.

I remember that one, Owl.. you had it strung E to C, right? Your $$ looks great in the tobacco stain, and it is very cool that you got a flight case with it!
 
Just contacted the distributor about whether the custom shops come with a case, and he told me those types of things are deals set up by them.

So it means I'll have to pay a bit extra for the flight cases... :( It's still worth it though. They will be much better than the gig bags that are included with it!
