Making of a Warwick Streamer Custom Shop Bass with Sadowsky Electronics for Barend Courbois

There are certain instruments that become interesting long before the first note is played. This Warwick Custom Shop Streamer Stage I is one of them: a one-off creation for Barend Courbois of the Michael Schenker Group, combining the unmistakable Streamer Stage I platform with a rather significant detail in its electronics — Sadowsky passive Soapbar pickups and active Sadowsky 2-band electronics with VTC. It is the first Warwick Custom Shop bass built around Sadowsky pickups and electronics, a possibility that grew out of Warwick and Sadowsky joining forces in 2020. Finished in Nirvana Black Transparent High Polish with gold hardware, AAAA quilted maple, a wenge neck and fingerboard, mother-of-pearl block inlays and a broad 47" fretboard radius, this is a particularly distinctive meeting of two names in the bass world.At the 24th fret sits a custom "The Bear" nameplate, while the matched wooden electronics compartment and individually issued certificate underline the personal nature of the instrument. This film follows selected moments from the creation of Barend Courbois' bass inside the Warwick Custom Shop — a glimpse at an instrument where the Warwick tradition meets the Sadowsky approach in a rather unusual way.

Interesting to me how much it still has that Warwick growl despite having Sadowksy electronics. Maybe its just his playing with a pick, and listening through laptop speakers, but it doesn't sound super Sadowsky like, it's still definitely a Warwick.
