It definitely made learning things a lot easier. However, once I hit high school and started playing a lot more of the complicated orchestral pieces (as well as picking up electric), she said I had surpassed her at which point I got a teacher.

I'm still using the french bow mom used in the community orchestra on my EUB.

I love that someone who isn't a full time 24/7 bass player is profiled, because I think this is a majority of bass players/musicians. They (we) work full time day jobs, or part time jobs if they are touring a lot. Then at night or when opportunity allows, they put on a different face and go attempt to hit the brown note as often as they can!
