LWA to GK comparison

So I'm playing a festival in Tel Aviv in a month or so. The backline provided is a LWA1000 and 'a cabinet'. They haven't gotten back to me with what cabinet it is yet, but I'm waiting on it.

So the question is here that I'm thinking about taking my GK700RB head with me, as it will be a totally different environment to play in, and usually on tour/gigs I always take my GK with me to be safe, as I know exactly what it will deliver.

I'm questioning whether I should do that this time though - how does the LWA compare, sound-wise and usage-wise, to the GK? Should I do the safe thing and take my GK as always or should I trust the LWA to deliver what I need it to?
 
Tough question to answer. You will most probably be alright with the LWA as it is a very powerfull little amp that sounds really clean and really tight. The compressor on it yielded various responses from various players and may be the one thing you won't like. Besides this there is really only the EQ on it so personally I would worry more about the "a cab" part of the equation as the cab will make or break your final sound.
 
Well no real chance of me taking my own cabinet there - I'll be stuck with whatever they have. Plus I'll be taking my pedalboard with my own compressor, so I'd be disabling it in any case.

Well whatever - it seems to be a good quality amp, and at the end of the day it's rock & roll, so whatever! Thanks for the info.
 
take the GK, Iv owned both. Had the GK for over 10 years loved it then sold it. I had the LWA100 for three weeks then sold it on. It just did not do it for me. The compressor is average so was always turned off. It did not have the same balls as the GK. The guy I sold it too loves it so of course everyone's different.
 
Voicing is very important for the feel. I recently tried a Glockenklang Blue Sky and Heart Rock 2 while I play a Glockenklang Blue Soul which shares the power section with the Sky and the preamp with the HR2.
Even such smaller changes make a big difference and personal preference and entire rig setup play a big role. One way to go about it is to check what kind of change of response you are looking for and then trying to compare the general response of the heads to hear what you want to aim for.
 
Thing is being active a Warwick bass sounds good through pretty much any rig. I only ever use the eq on amps to boost some lows and they are all capable of that. I bring my own comp on the pedalboard.
 
Don't bother lugging another amp around internationally. The LWA is very clean. FOH will make it sound the way they want to anyway, and the amp will probably output clean DI before the LWA's pre section, so it really won't matter which amp you play with.
 
Use the venue´s amp, you will sound good and travel light, and happier. 8:
 
If you wanna play real safe, get a Radial Engineering J 48 DI to plug straight into. It'll deliver clean and punchy bass, no matter what amp you use.
