I recently purchased two new 5 string rockbass's , one is a corvette basic 5 passive, and the other is a $$ 5 passive , i have always owned at least 2 bass's for gigging , and my problem has always been switching from one to the other and the feel is different , so I always end up using one and the other just sits on stage ,Now that i have the rockbass's that has totally changed . I am in a working casino band here in the reno nevada area and our set list's are fasioned so that our heavier stuff is in two sets and the lighter stuff in two sets ,we played last night , and I must say it was one of the most fun gigs I have had , i used the basic corvette for the mellow stuff , then jumped to the double buck for the heavy stuff , and man was i ever happy , they both have a great tone the basic has a nice j bass tone with a wicked growl , and the double buck is off the chart just really growly and mean, Playing in a casino band puts me in a spot where I have no stage amp . i run through a sansamp right into the board , we use westone in ear monitors and sure wireless systems, the only thing i have to do when switching bass's is drop the output and the bass slightly for the double buck, but going between the two bass's has no feel difference , both are in the natural satin the basic is alder and the $$ is ash , My sound guy was in awe and i got numerous compliments on my tone , i also went out front to hear the mix and the bass's really fit well in the mix , we have guitar and keys and the bass had its own slot really nice and focused. I used to have a warwick with the bubinga body and a wenge neck and the tone was not really what i was looking for , ireally like the traditional woods that the rockbass models use , the tone is more what i have been looking for .
