I recently Purchased a Rock Bass at a pawn shop...love it, with exception that the active EMC electronics are a little weak...However I am trying to get some information on it...I am confused...It appears to be of the body shape of the streamer...however the electronics are active. My confusion comes with the 4 pods and active electronics, I have searched and searched online and cannot find any images or information on this particular Bass, it is the red finish, the serial is RB A 001051-02
Can anyone provide me with any additional information on this Instrument? And or suggestions for changing these particular pickups to something a little Hotter.

The bass is from Jan. 2002... Other than that... I dont know, I dont have much time on RB's so I cant really answer any more questions.

Can you post some pictures, please?
The best bass i had until now, was a 92 Thumb NT5. And the signal was pretty weak comparing to others. So... If you like the sound, just adjust the imput gain of your amp :-)

There's a little trimpot inside the control cavity,it adjusts the preamps output,if the signal is a little weak you could try adjusting it there if nothing else works.

I must say I had a tech set it up.....amazing tones anywhere from chiming, tapping, slaping or just fingering some blues.( hint, I hate pics- why one would would pick up a pic when they have 5 good fingers is beyond me!) lol. Now back to the business at hand. I am assuming as was the tech that it must have been a speacial order, I am however falling in love with it! here are the pics:

Looks similar to my Rockbass Streamer... except you've got the extra control knob which seems to indicate the active eq. The pickups look the same as the passive soap bars on mine... with the MEC logo in silver... so I wonder if the bass has passive pick-ups but an active eq (like a $$ has). Does it come out of the factory like this... or do you think someone has added the active electronics?

I thought about changing the pickups for something hotter... but when I put it through my EBS microbass pre-amp, it's as "in yer face" as you like!

It's a fine bass anyway! :wink:
 
I too noticed

I also noticed the soapbar style pickups, i inferred to the tech about that also, He said the pickups were active and that it wasnt just a preamp.. I had him to leave the pickups set as they were, for I began to think that the lack of tone I was first hearing might have been my amp. so i took the hartke 3500 out of the rack, but not before testing the bass on it, had remarkable improvment after proper set up. I then put in my GBE 600 (genz benz) and the bass just exploded with sounds and colors. So proper power supplied to it helped even more... None the less I am now extremely happy with the bass, and would recomend it to anyone, even those that can afford the higher end lineup of warwick craftmanship...this budget model has made a happy and future purchaser of WarWick Instruments.

With MEC pickups if the logo is silver,they're passive,if the logo is gold,they're active. :wink:
 
looks to me like someone modded it after it was sold...and yeah the pickups are passive.

theres nothing half-hearted in the passive MEC pickups. they'll diliver the goods just as well as the active MEC ones, just in a different way

Must have been an aftermarket mod, those basses do not come in active form. The 4th knob has been installed by a person/s other than Warwick.
