OK, so I had the chance the use it around the house and in the band room at the warehouse tonight..
at home I just use an old peavey TNT 100 amp to play on with no other effects or anything.. no problems at all with the x2 after setting it up and picking the strongest channel to be on. I walked from the room I was in through the hallway and into my bedroom, about 25-30 feet and no break up what so ever.. then I went down the stairs as I was playing and loss the signal when I got to the bottom, maybe 40-45 feet..

playing at the band room tonight went well also. after setting up again with the best channel, which was a different one then before at home.
I placed the receiver on top of my amp stack so I would get good coverage. my stack is about 6' high. the band room is 10'x20' and I could move freely with no problems. I went out of the band room and walked up the hallway around 35 feet before loss of signal.

I would like to try and set up my amp in the back yard and see how far I could go with direct line of sight coverage. if I get 35 feet around walls at the band room I should get great in line coverage..
I had read about the signal dropping out in other reviews, I did have second thoughts about buying it cause of that.. but the good reviews out weighted the bad and I'm glad I gave it a try... maybe the receiver placement has something to do with it,, I don't know!

as far as sounds goes, it was dead on here at the house with just the basic bass and amp working..
at the band room with my full rack it was a different story though.
on both my passive Warwick's and on my Ibanez 5 string I got a massive lowend bass boost.
at first I thought it was a volume boost so I turned the rig down some and it still didn't sound right to me. so after checking all the in/out meters on the rack units, which were a little hotter then normal, it was a massive boost in the low sub area maybe around the 80hz-100hz.
I did't have time to fully dial it in as the rest of the band was ready to go. so I will have to re EQ at a later time...

so that about it for now,, I'm happy with it and I hope I don't run into problems with it receiving as some others have. I did see where some people are adding antennas to the receive to fix the problems...

There is something in the instructions about
boost vs flat .... different outputs or inputs.

I forget whether it's at the transmiiter or the
receiver, cuz I like the sound it gives so I've
had no reason to pursue this. IIRC, there is
some impedence difference between boost
and flat. First off, do be sure you're using the
one that matches your intentions, then check
to see if the other one serves you better.

Also, please explain about different channels
performing better in different locations. I do
not recall any mention in the manual about
choosing a channel based on the distance or
clarity of the transmission.

I had the impression that they are all equal,
and the reason for having 5 is so that if the
whole band looooove using an X2, then they
each need a discreet channel per player. Am
I missing something here ?

on the boost vs flat,
I rechecked the manual and it says that there can be a boost in high frequencies. but that its not caused by the system, rather they are passed throught the system. ???
I did not notice any difference in my high end at all. but I did get a lowend boost somehow, as reported by other users...
I wonder if my cable route played a part in that boost. went from bass, to X2, to tuning pedal, to rack..
at home I just went bass, to X2, to amp, and did not have any boost...
I wonder if the tuning pedal changed the impedence??? maybe that caused the lowend boost??

on channels,, the manual says theres 2 modes of monitoring signals.
#1 is audio signal and #2 is RF signal.
I monitored the audio signal on the receiver,, went through all 5 channels and whichever one was maxed out on the meter is the one I used.
at home 2 channels did not max out,,,ch 1 and 3. at the band room 3 did not max out. ch 1, 2, 3.. the band room is a mini warehouse with metal walls and ceiling.. maybe that caused some interfernce or something,,

also in the manual troubleshooting section,
under intermittent sound or distorted sound. causes listed are,
bad source
bad connection
more then one transmitter one a ch
out of range
"unknown source of RF in local vicinity"

while this is digital there are still ss or analog parts in the chain. RF can still be pick up from other sources,,
that last caused listed tells me there is a chance of interfernce of some sort.. but I imagine it would be in the form of just a bad signal and no sound, as opposed to the old days of a real radio signal coming through like in Spinal Tap!! LOL
