Lifted frets on 1990 SS1

As many are aware I have just grabbed this fellow from Sascha here at the Warwick forum. Great bass but I noticed from the get go it had a slight buzz when fretting the 3rd fret E string. I thought it was gonna be a simple adjustment but I have adjusted the nut and bridge saddles and its still there, plus I am a little unhappy about the action now. It should be better, as the neck is dead straight with no twists. After inspection I think it is the 4th fret that has lifted slightly on the bass side that is buzzing. I can just get my fingernail under it on the edge under the E string. The same can be said for some of the other frets but they dont cause any buzz.
Now I realize a luthier can fix this but I am CHEAP! I would like to have a crack first. Can anyone suggest what I need to do. Do I just need to tap it back in or is there more involed? I am keen but I am no luthier so if the frets need to be removed first then its not going to be by me!

Hey buddy.

This can be tricky as if you overdo it, the 5th string will buzz, and so and so....

But it is very easy to do, and I've done it with great results.
Put a piece of leather on the fret, and very gently knock it with a hammer or something. You better do it once, then check again, you don't want to do it too much, so be as cautious as possible.

Cool Florin thanks mate. I've actually emailed a very reputable local luthier for a price on a fix and setup as I also really need one of the brass nut slot filed slightly bigger for the guage strings I prefer so I will keep you informed as to how I go. Would rather not do it myself I think but I am currently without the funds it may take!

when playing it I did not notice that something is wrong with the bass - sorry if you have any hassle with it now

No stress mate - its a tiny issue that can be fixed. neck is straight and everything works fine, just that one spot and im sure its the fret that has lifted. Im just weighing up the pros and cons of trying to fix it myself and possibly stuffing it up or paying a professional to do it (that I dont really have the cash for).
