In my original post, I did mention that I'm not crazy about the 16mm string spacing of the stock RB bridge. So I did some measuring and testing, and I realized you can successfully fit a bridge with 18mm string spacing.
I bought one of these "economy" Allparts chrome bridges for $20 shipped to my door. It is of a very similar design (if not the same) as the stock bridge, has a 2-13/16" total string spacing (18mm between strings):

Here, you can see where the strings were with the stock bridge, looking at the marks in the fingerboard, and that this is just about the LIMIT you can take with spacing w/o the strings falling off the sides of the board when playing.:
And the old bridge next to the new bridge so you can see the difference:
I have to say that I am satisfied. I am very comfortable with thei string spacing and I only hope that I am not blaspheming here...
