Just a Nut II broke on me....

...and was wondering how i go about trying to get a replacement. I live in the U.S. , California. I have a Corvette, and purchased it about 2 years ago from GC, unfortunately they dont carry parts. Any suggestions would be much appreciated! I rehearse with my band once a week and dont want to have to miss anymore jams.

I'm going to go search the forums now, but just figured I'd post to say Hello since I'm new here. :d

Yo Matt.If it's just the retaining tabs that've broken the nut will work just as good as before coz string tension will keep it in place indefinately.
Make sure you specify that the new nut is for fretted or fretless & ask for a Just a Nut 3(new design that wont break)with its base in however many strings your bass is.Sorry to sound blindingly obvious,but I've known all this to be over looked.

i broke 3 of my jan II's ... it wasnt a problem.
 
Hey thanks for the replys guys, n' for the warm welcome.

I'll give those links a go right now. I got the tension of the strings just holding it down for now (went to re-string the day before i was supposed to recored for the first time and bam! ARG!), but it appears to be leaning forward and that was my only concern. Seems to play fine though, just a pain to start re-stringing it.

Also, i have a 5 string corvette and have a REAL problem getting most 5th strings to fit in the bridge. Was just curious if anyone else experiences this problem? I also get alot of noise (a white noise/hiss sound) when i turn up my tone. I'm assuming this is a ground issue? Clear as can be with the tone completely off, and they are not active P.U.'s

I'm gonna shoot him an email, mabey call him tomorow. That link was just email, went to Hansermg.com and didnt see a link for forum or any info on the replacement part.
 
Hey Matt,I cant help ya with the noise issue,but the strings are easily fixed.If your usual strings have a non tapered B string,you can simply crimp,or squeeze the string into it's slot on the tail piece.Use a small pair of pliars to gently flatten the outter string wrap.Alternatively you can file the tail piece to accomdate the non tapered strings.Using a small rat-tailed file,gently file half a millimeter,at the most,from each side of the string slot.Dont remove anymore than this coz you risk pulling the ball end right through when you tune the strings up to tension.
Lastly,you could buy a set of strings with a tapered B string that'll fit just fine.

Yes, I had this problem too, and I quicly solved with a file, as Greg said.
Is your corvette with passive pickups (silver MEC logo - Dynamic Correction on the pickups)
If yes, this is normal for passive single coils to be a little bit noisier, especially when you use more the neck or the bridge pickup.
If the shielding is OK, the ground is OK, and the electricity is OK, then the bass should be quiet.
 
Thanks for the help guys. I might give the file a try sometime down the line, but gonna stick with the crimp method for now.

Mabey its just the pickups then becuase they are passive with the silver logo. I'm gonna take it to a guy my dad trusts with all his guitars to get the nut III put on, so I'll have him do a look threw and trouble shoot it for me aswell.

Lastly, I got a hold of Mark Sharp and he does have the JAN III in stock. I specified that my warwick was a corvette/5 string/fretted. He asked if i needed a 45mm or 47mm. I believe its a 45mm but not sure. Any tips on how to tell?
