Hello everyone,

I recently came across an older Warwick with the old Just A Nut nut and i found it to be a lot better than the Just A Nut II. My question is if I could technically order a Warwick with an original JAN via the custom shop. I know that you can buy one over the web but how do you install it?

Yes i am iterested in the brass nut too. I dont understand why they switched, Brass makes the best nuts. I cant seem to find them in the 5 string version do you know where i can find them?
 
Yes. The Warwick Custom Shop is open to buolding you a bass with the JAN I.

Hey Oliver,
If I want to just find a brass JAN to put on a warwick that I already own, what would be the best way to go about getting one? I contacted DBG and they told me I had to do it through my local dealer, but I'm on vacation nowhere near any warwick dealers, and I also seem to remember people buying them directly from Warwick or something.

Warwick only gives them for free if you have a defective nut. The process in this case should be handled by your dealer.

***Note: Warwick does not sell directly to customers. All sales are handled by Distributors and Dealers.
 
I found a few new thumbs online fitted with JAN1's,the dealer had them fitted coz they dont like the brittle JAN2.I prefer the JAN2 myself,warwick made it that way for a good reason,it's a better nut.Brass is plentyfull & cheap,alot cheaper than wilferite.If ya change your strings correctly you wont break it in the first place.Easy saying that in hindsight :wink:

Don't you find the fact that you can adjust every string's height independently better than only being able to adjust the height of all of the strings?

This is the great advantage of the JAN1 over the JAN2.

On the other hand with the JAN2 you can adjust the screw at wathever point you like.
With the JAN1 the minimum amount of adjusting is achieved with a complete 360° turn of the relative screw.
 
Lucky owner of a fretless Thumb NT 5 bought second hand, I had to change the JAN II because It was bent in the middle :shock: : A string was always too low, even If B & G string were adjusted way too high.

I orderd a JAN I there, It was delivered 2 days later ! (I live in France) BUT the nut was sent with large grooves in the screwheads that fit well B & E strings, but not A, D & G string.
The distance between these strings is not equal at the nut but It doesn't affect the playability, I don't feel the string spacing difference, but it nerves me.
I've sent an e-mail to basscentre to explain my problem, I've never got any answer :evil:

Brass nut on a fretless bass sounds wonderfull, way better than what I expected !

mate I found I dont need that much adjustment,raising or lowering 2 strings at a time seems to give me a great set up.But my idea of a great set up might differ from others. :wink:
