I love the "Shreds" vids... but I'd never seen the Jaco one until today!!


EDIT: Guys - this is fake audio to make it sound SH*T intentionally... it's all part of the gag.

I just want to save any other fellow Aussies around here who were a little slow waking up this morning... hahah!

the overdub suits his outfit! Those vids are always good fun.
 
There's this vid. I saw a while ago. It was sad and weird at the same time. It was him playing then at the end he throws his bass straight up in the air. The video pauses with the bass up in the air but the audio continues and you hear this horrible crash. It was really unsettling.
 
Its kinda sad because its possible that it sounded like that. Im guessing its from 82 - 85?

Im sorry, with all due respect to Jaco, But either Im just not with it today or that video put me to sleep. :shock:

Im not the worlds biggest jaco fan, But that video was pretty lame.
I know that a lot of people see him as "The" bass god & Im not denying him that title, but for me its just not pleasing to the ear or the eye to see him wandering around the stage making fart noises with his bass, playing a couple of interesting riff's then making noise again.

I have never seen the bass as a solo instrument, maybe thats my problem with artists like Jaco. Maybe I just havent heard enough of his good stuff.

Rusty - That isn't Jaco playing - it's a comedic overdub designed to sound lame and funny.

There's a whole series of these "shred" videos on youtube with famous artists. They're very cleverly done.

I'm kinda with Rusty on this one.
I'm a Jaco fan.I have his albums & think he's one of the best bassists ever.But this video I find as entertaining as watching Jean Baudin or Adam Nitti tap the Mario Brothers,or any of the thousand notes per second slap/tap videos.
**btw.I love Jean & Adam's work.So,me of their stuff just bores me to tears.
Did you post the right video Lex?Sorry mate,I just find it hard to beleive you like this,but not some of the other stuff that's been posted in the past. :oops:

Go to youtube and search for "Clapton Shreds" and "Santana Shreds". It's gold... amazing how many people praise it while secretly second guessing themselves... :)
