Insurance

I made some enquiries about this very subject & found out I need to include my gear on my home & contents insurance to have it covered while it's in my car, stange but true,(in Australia).

Okay... I was just wondering since I've been looking into this myself these days. Mine is only covered af home right now (theft etc.) but I def. want it covered the best way I can... After all it's probably in a bigger "danger-zone" when I'm out playing gigs...

When I used to gig quite a lot, mine was covered by a specialist music insurer which wasn't too expensive, can't remember who it was though!

Now it's covered on home and contents but I don't really play live anymore.

Yepp, I have mine covered for any situation that might occur. Mind that many insurances doesn`t cover your instrument if something happens while it`s in use.

btw, did I mention that I sell insurances? 8)

I guess not then

I insure my bass and amps for € 41/year (up to €2000). I need to amend that when I get the streamer though...

Does a week's holiday in Bergen about 12 years ago count? I think I still have some kroner around here somewhere... ~M~

I'll be looking into insurance this week... now I seem to be out gigging more! In the UK, Musicguard seems a good bet, and a good website, you can just add and deduct various types of cover to get what you want. Someone on this forum recommended it in an earlier thread... may have even been you, Bassoctopus!

You need to read the small print though... and I also reckon 3rd party cover is a good idea.. in case your amp lands on someone's toe or something!

My Upright bass is covered by insurance, its affordable and resonable. I would advise it.

this is the REALLY scarey thing is this...my entire band in uninsured at the moment, and at the last count that was about 30,000 pounds worth of equipment (thats including all our personal instruments as well as the PA etc) and thats only going to get bigger :(

god insurance is going to be a major headache  lets hope the studio doesn't burn down too soon

Stroudie... another option is insurance via the Musicians Union... only one band member needs to join, and it's quite cheap... I think you can get free or cheap insurance, but it might be limited... worth checking out, and my information may be out of date! Try googling "Musicians Union" in the UK.

My band has got a lot of gear... if you add it all up, and now we're buying more lights as well... but no-one seems that interested in insuring it! At least I can make sure my stuff is insured.

When you get the quotation, you may find the premiums rather high - I was in another band with at least £30,000 worth of stuff... but the premiums were huge - so we didn't bother. Just don't leave the van doors open without someone looking out for it!

The Who obviously had very good insurance, as they kept trashing their stuff on stage... maybe they had a high excess policy!

Zero insurance,

but then again, the bass pretty much stays home, so it's not likely to get damaged, or stolen...................unless the house sets on fire and my Warwick burns down..................but if I'm in the house as well................and I get charcoaled as well.................who cares ??

Renter's Insurance... And a big wrench... The renter's insurance for fire/flood, etc.... The big wrench incase of theft :)

Get the Insurance that The Who had on their guitars!

whats that all about?

Pete Townsend had an insurance deal that no matter what happend to his guitar, they would make sure it was replaced. So he smashed as many as possible.
