Want to know which instrument cables do you prefer - DIY or factorymade?
which manufacturer and why?

i'm thinking about klotz ac106 + neutrik jacks

Factory-made and keep spares around. I guess you can just make you own if you want for a hobby, but factory-made cables of high-quality rarely fail.
 
The older I am the less audiphile I get... I play with wireless (sennheiser D1) and I use the cables I have around for interconnect. Luckily, I still have mogami :-)
Ah, I did them by myself, with neutrik plugs, so... I think wrong vote for me :-)

I use and love Mogami Gold. Zero problems, ever! But there are many great ones. You will get many opinions. That is just my experience with Mogami.
 
I use a D'Addarrio cable for my guitars. Decent quality, not too expensive...
 
I have a Peavey cable, 6m long, that has been with me since 2008. Had been using some 6m Rockbass cables but sooner or later all of them have broken jacks. Now I have a couple of Fenders, let´s see how much do they last.
 
i think i will buy 6m klotz ac106 + neutrik jacks and will solder it by myself

Many years ago, when I used to care, i organized a meeting with some guitarists and bassists and each of them brought his cable.
Did some blind tests, and the difference was there! And pretty audible. Anyway my favourite was spectraflex vintage ones.
 
Factory made, any brand as long as it has Neutrik plugs and a nice thick insulated cable that won't break easy.

High end cables especially designed for bass are snake oil. They're just copper strands in the end and the current running through them is so low the thickness doesn't have any effect.
 
This topic has real relevance to me at this point in time. I have been having connection issues with my cables. After lots of frustration and head scratching trying to figure out if it was the bass or the cable, it appears the Fender Custom Shop cables I bought on Amazon are pure crap. I have 2 of these cables and they both suck, or so it seems. When I had the initial problem, I switched the cables, and the problem persisted so I thought it was the bass. I switched to another bass and the situation repeated itself. After repeating this process on about 8 different basses I realized that both the cables must have the same issue. Has anyone else had this problem with Fender Custom Shop cables?

I have a non-custom shop Fender cable that works fine. I have become aware recently that some manufacturers sell a lower quality product on Amazon.com compared to what that same company sells in retail stores..........which explains the lower price. That may be the case here, or they could quite possibly be counterfeit. Either way, they suck.
