Installing Active pickups on my vette standard

Ok, with great consideration and help from you forum guys I'm going to replace my passives in my Corvette Standard bubinga with active MEC J's (M60201) .

Do I need any extra electronics with the pickups? I have MEC 2-way active electronics on my bass (active electronics with passive pickup combination).

Is it just a case of soldering the pickups on?

There will be more to it than simply soldering the new pickups in.

First, the 2-way active electronics (60003) circuitry shows a dual 25K pot for the balance pot (M85002). The 'vette std. passive used a dual 220K (M86252). You will need to change this pot out (You're good to go with the volume/push-pull pot, and the bass/treble pot stack).

The replacement pot will likely not come with the pc board attached. This means you should be prepared to desolder and remove the existing PC board from the balance stack and attach it to the new balance stack and resolder. That will require that 6 points be cleanly and carefully desoldered.

Second, you'll need to solder the red wires from the new pickups to the point where the red lead from the battery clip connects to the circuit board on the bass/treble stack.

It's not rocket science if you're handy with soldering/desoldering tools. If you do this yourself, be careful not to use too much heat. A 20-watt soldering pencil will be plenty.
