Hi everybody on the forum, i'm back again ;),

i am planning to buy an Infinity 5 BUT changing the 16,5mm string spacing to 20mm...which forces me to get other PUs... Does anyone have an advice what pair to chose and what sound differences do i have to expect then?
 
That would be an infinity shaped stage 1 really...
 
Just to make things clear, you mean buying a CS Infinity, correct? Not buying a standard Infinity 5 and setting the spacing wider? A standard Infinity won't accommodate 20 mm spacing.
 
Yes, i'm talking about a CS Infinity...
 
20mm infinity 5 is a great idea, I will like a buy a 20mm Thumb 5 and Infinity 5 too
 
I think you first need to decide if you want a modern growly sound, or a round fat sound... You can chose between Bartolini, SD MEC and EMG in Custom SHop.
Or any other brand if you send the pickups to the factory.

Well i tend towards a growly fat sound! What Pups would you suggest? ...and i am considering an ebony board too!! ...maybe an ash body/spalted maple top with maple neck... What'd be the sound finally then?
 
I think Delano makes a J/TJ setup with wider spacing - in fact, if you want Delanos on your Warwick, you have to order them in narrow Warwick spacing.

I guess the best thing would be to google and to gather as much information as you can. In the end the differences can be subtle, so the only thing that really matters is your personal experience.
But it is safe to say that:
-Bartolini tend to be on the warm- fat side. With a lot of punch
- EMG is on the growly side
- MEC is somewhere inbetween. They are usually uber growly, but the soapbars are split coils, so they sound more or less like P pickups.
I'd look for soapbar pickups that have 2 coils, not a split coil.
