Increasing awsomeness or messing up my 'vette?

Hey guys! I can consider myself as the happy owner of a beautiful 'vette $$6 in natural oil finish. So far everything's OK, BUT there are two things i would like to know.

First, does anybody know, if there is a way of getting original MM PUs like they're used at the 'Bongo' bass? Or even PU, which are soundalike?

The second thing, which is of less importance, that interests me is, if there is a way of coloring a natural finished body with colored oil (without sending it directly to Warwick)? And if there is, does anybody know, where to get those oils?

Absolutely, positiootly NOT. Unavailable. NFS.

Anywho, the Boingo PUs and electronics are an
integrated system. You'd hafta use the complete
set up, if you could get one, like from a Boingo
thaz died in a motorcycle crash but has working
PUs and EQ-pre. Short of that sort of life-giving
organ transplant, there's NO souce of such items.

BTW, it won't kill you to get a Boingo. Wicksters
are officially allowed to covet, own and even play
EBMM basses. It's in the Wicksburg Bill of Rights.

Yes I know Boingos are aesthetically embarassing
but you can blame those aesthetics on a bunch
of Germans [BMW Design Group] ... so again, it's
OK to indulge, and very rewarding in a Left Coast
sorta way .... ].

:D Actually, I really like the appearance of those basses, but tey are WAY too expensive for me :D Maybe I can get the electronics at ebay or something

Are there some PUs and preamps out there, which sound similar?

No.




It's an 18v 4band and neodymium PUs. Not much out there by
way of similar alternatives. BTW, the Boingo set up is widely
regarded as being the most nearly noiseless onboard rig in the
marketplace. It's its own world, a take-it-or-leave-it, "My way
or the Highway" offering. Warwick/MEC has it's own miracles
for you, but "never the twain shall meet".

The Boingo set up is lately available in some newer EBMMs,
which differ from the Boingo as to the woods employed and
so they sound different than the Boingo. So ... EBMM itself is
demonstrating to you/us that copping the Boingo tone chain
and transplanting it into a different bass will NOT result in a
tone clone of the Boingo. Hey, you're a Wickster ... so you
KNOW that wood really matters.

Boingo tone is not brutal ... it's beautiful. The nearest I've
encountered from Wick is the '04 LE, which features active
MEC J-TJ and ash-ovangcal-ebony wood. If I were modding
a $$ to compete [not mimic ... compete] in a tonal beauty
challenge with the Boingo, I'd put a pair of TJs and a 3band
into the $$. I don't happen to know if that set up is offered
in a width for 6-string. And I know there's a bit of a shape
difference in the $$ PUs vs the TJ PUs in the 4-string, but I
have a Boingo HH5, a Boingo H4, and a Wick 04 LE. Hard
to declare a "winner" within that group.
