I'd just like to share with you that I've finally reached the perfect tune on my Thumb 5 Fretless.
A very, very perfect tuning through the entire fingerboard involving the truss rod and every single nut on the bridge.
Ok I admit that I'm a bit sick on this, but nothing can be worst than a fretless bass with a bad intonation.
It's just a pity that the ovangkol wood isn't as stable as the bubinga, it suffers every little change of temperature, but hey! It's my own Thumb!

The thumb must my a dream to play now, and sounds amazing!

ps Can you set my fretless up? :P (i'm still working on the notation side on mine after a change of strings)
 
It sometimes amazes me how players on practically non stop tours,travel thru every climate there is with their Warwicks,without so much as a truss rod tweek.But others,that live in the same place all year round,find they need to adjust it.Maybe it's just that never ending search for the perfect set up. :wink:
 
I've got an old all-maple Streamer LX, and in its life, I've had it set up a total of once (this is having owned the bass in excess of 8 years), and its always ben unbelievably good to me.

Always in tune, always good action.

You know they plan that to the detail, don`t you? They just do a little research to find out where there is summer, and follow that season throughout the tour. 8) No temperature-change, just cocktails and bermudas.
 
That's right Greg. My guitar player/employer wants to tour in 1-2 years and strictly follow the "flip-flop" or sandal weather all winter.

btw, after initially setting the neck relief and string heights to my liking on my Warwicks when they were new, I've never touched them since.
 
I know what it's like to play with the bass setup ALOT! But like the first post, I have finally got everything setup perfect... My action is super low but still sounds great for slap and finger style. Tapping now sounds perfect on it, etc. Gotta love these Warwicks :)

Definetely yes. As I wrote I'm a bit sick about the perfect tune, it can be pathologic sometimes.
On the other hand it's extremely important since I play a fretless fiver the 101% of my time.
