I'm REALLY fed up....!

Several months ago, i made a post on a custom corvette, i listed the specs for you guys asking for a price estimate. The ones you gave me seemed pretty reasonable, around $2000. Incase you were wondering again, here are the specs.

Corvette 5 string
zebrano body
standard pickups and electronics
gold harware
high stain polish
emerald green
matching headstock

I went to my local guitar center and asked for a price, so the contacted warwick. I got a call the next day from guitar center with the price:
$4500!!!???

I told them that it couldn't be right, because according to the pricelist, it should be around $2100. They double checked and they said "yeah, were sure that's the price." And that was AFTER the 15% discount! I have emailed warwick several times with no response. Contacted the distributor many times with no response. I kept asking the manager of GC questions and he couldn't even find out. Nobody knows anything, and I'm just about to give this up. By far the worst customer service i have ever dealt with, its just pathetic. What should i do? I might just buy something else...
 
Seeing as Warwick only sell through distributors, Warwick aren't the ones giving you the shit service. Sounds to me like GC don't have a clue...
Give www.basscentral.com, lots of people on this forum love them.
 
basscentral.com is great. I haven't purchased from them, but I have inquired a few times and they are very responsive and seem to be a really great service-oriented shop...
 
I guess i'll give them a try, seeing you guys are the 100th persons to recommend them.

Hopefully I'm lucky, if not then that's it, i'm not getting a warwick.
 
I really don't think you should let lousy service from one shop rule out Warwick in general. Trust me, when you get the bass any and all hassle would have been worth it :D
 
Unfortunately, I don't see things that way. If i am having too many problems in even getting the correct price on the thing, i don't think i should invest my money in something that has been nothing but a headache (now the 5th month of this dilemma). Its just not worth it, no matter how great it is. But like i said, i'm giving this another go at basscentral.com, wish me luck.

By the way, sorry if i sound too arrogant and stupid. I'm not the one to nag and complain, so to anybody looking for a custom shop, give it a try. I'm just a minority, so most people don't and shouldn't have this problem :)
 
I do see your point. I won't buy anything where the service is bad, I'd just go somewhere else. I was just lucky that www.thomann.de gave me great service (they replied mails daily) and great prices
 
this is quite Unfortunate, but like the other guys said, it will be worth it when you have it in your hands, warwicks are just amazing instruments that are over shadowed buy the bigger company's. which is a big mistake.
 
*sigh* I guess i'll just keep trying. I've always loved the idea of having a personalized intrument, one thats unique, and the fact that nobody else has played it :) If everyone else did it, so can i! I'll just find myself a different dealer like you all suggested. Just one question though, and i know this pops up like the flu, but how does sweat affect any color oiled instrument? This was the main reason i'm getting this custom, i sweat like hell, so much i rust brand new pickus in a week! I know i've asked this in november, i just want to see if i could possibly take off the high polish from the list, it'll be cheaper.

where you from??? i would'nt change a bass that is as good and will look as stunning as the one your planning, high polish green with a matched head stock, its to die for man.
 
Man... Your bass just CAN'T be that expensive. There must be a mistake somewhere.
 
That's exactly my point. The neck is standard and so are the pickups. If I were putting leds on the bass it might just be worth the money but i'm not. Its not warwick i'm mad about, its GC. nobody knows anything, then they make me feel like a ping pong ball going to different places, contacting warwick, etc. doesn't make any sense to me at all. True that I'm changing the entire body to zebrano, but it turns out that its one of the cheaper body woods they offer (199 euro) The headstock and polish are a little expensive obviously but not enough to jack the price up to the rediculously $4500
 
Bassman, I suggest you take a serious conversation with the salesman in a half-angry tone just to show him who is the buyer. You can't let them throw you around like a ping pong ball. You are in charge, they are not.

If they have bad customer service, let them know you are no longer a customer there.
 
Hey bassman, i know what you mean about the GC their service sucks. One thing i can do for you is recommend contacting Jimmy C, hes a rep at Dana B. Goods, the US warwick Distributor. 1800-741-0109. He'll answer all your questions and hell recommend a shop in your state or close that is strictly bass oriented or has really good service with warwick. Dont let some lets say Walmart of music stores discourage you. it seems you like you know what you want, and im sure if you follow through its definately gonna be something you wont regret something special. Im sure the price quote you get isnt gonna be $4500, Ive had pretty much the same bass priced and lets say it was about 2200 less then what you were quoted, theyre just trying to put some money in their pocket. The difference is significantly bigger than the exchange rate.
 
This would be either a mistake or they are charging you retail price on it.
