I have a terrible problem.

I have a new Custom Shop Corvette STD (2010) in white high polish finish, fretted four string active electronics with an ebony fingerboard and a new burgundy red coloured oil finish German Streamer LX (2009) four string to try.

I did intend to choose one of them as a keeper, but they're both so nice I don't want to give either one back.

I've had loads of Corvettes over the years, so this one is familiar, but really beautiful and quite unique.

I've only had a few Rockbass Streamers, and a '98 Streamer Pro M before but never an LX. This is one gorgeous bass... everything totally new to me, and very different to a Corvette!

It's gonna have to be both of them :)
Buy both, sell the 2 rockbass vettes?
 
Haha... Nice idea, but the two Rockbass Corvettes actually sound great! I love the passive double buck configuration! I haven't heard anything quite like it before ;)
 
Hey Luke. I'd go with the Streamer hands down.
That's just me, because this beautiful image below was the main reason I got into Warwick back in '98 (although I got a Fortress then for financial reasons).

Again, that's just me. Corvettes do not even compare from a visual standpoint.
 
Go with the LX Luke, tonally it differs most from your other basses which will put even more fun back into playing. Besides that I agree with Starke McClanley here that is a much sexier instrument visually.
 
You guys are right, Streamers look hot and the LX differs tonally from all of my other basses. But still, despite the white CS 'Vette being very close tonally to the girl next door I've had my eye on it for ages. The white HP finish is incredible, and I love the ebony board. I'd say it's slightly different sounding to the girl next door, maybe a little tighter but that could even just be newer strings. The red coloured oil finish on the LX wouldn't have been my first choice, but it does look good. A few years ago there was a killer batch of LX Streamers with flamed and spalted maple bodies. One of those in natural oil would be neat, but they're all gone.

I think I just have to live with them both a little and see how I feel in a few days. I'll take them to rehearsal on Sunday night and see how they sound with the band too.
 
LX!! They seem to sell faster and hold more of their value than the corvettes too, if you don't get on with it!
 
Tonight's rehearsal, so I'll take them both. I already know how the Corvette will sounds, although it's slightly different to the STD Ash. Looking forward to hearing the LX in the mix!

Very interesting night. No doubt that they're both amazing basses. To my ears the LX is more growly and cutting and the Corvette smoother and more polite. Both great tones yet very different. I think the LX is more versatile but I do find it a bit thin when the bridge pickup is soloed unless you dial in some extra bass to compensate.

I think the Corvette sounded better for our music (think Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Dusty Springfield, Nina Simone, Eva Cassidy... ).

Our drummer LOVED the red coloured oil finish over flamed maple with chrome hardware... I think I caught him drooling :D, but the red colour (although I can see it does look great!) just isn't really my style. I've loved the white high polish Corvette with black hardware and an ebony board for a long time ;) If the LX was a natural oil finish I might feel a little differently about it.

I still haven't made up my mind quite yet, but I think I prefer the gorgeous white Corvette :D

I must agree, a white bass with black hw is sex as hell.
 
I think I can see an LX in my future; I do love it, but I don't think it's this one.

For now the Snow White Corvette wins, and I can start planning for a sexy LX in the future with a natural oil finish.
