This could be a dumb question but here goes.
How can I find out about my corvette, It has the seiral no B - 001 187 - 93.
with the two piece bridge, MEC pups

I am puzzeled by its neck which is maple with a wenge board and brass frets. It sounds just fine and slaps a real treat

Were Corvetts made with maple necks or is this a replacement. It has lost its truss rod cover so no helpful info to be gained from that...any thoughts.

It sounds like it might be a Corvette Proline,It's from February 1993.Do you have any pics?
 
Early Corvette made in 1992-1994 were called Proline.
Unlike nowadays Prolines they were passive.
The body was made of Ash, and the neck was availablr in two options: Wengé or Maple.

So your neck is correct for a 1993 Corvette. :wink:
 
Thanks there Mr Rabble yup the body could be ash but the flaming makes me think it is possibly mapple. The bass has a active trebble and bass cut and boost which I guess could well have been added later. In anycase here are a few pics including one of inside the cotroll cavity
The bass has its fair share of dings and rashbut it plays realy well so I think its a keeper.
 
The body is Flamed Maple, just like the body of the Proline's made since 1995.
And the same thing I think looking at the electronics.
If I'm not going wrong, your bass has actve electronics and passive pickups.
It seems that you have a 1993 neck and a 1995 or later body...

yup passive pups 'MEC dynamic correction' (thats what is says in very worn writing) and active elctronics. Your diagnosis could well be right although the neck is in a much better state of preservation than the body which looks like it has had a busy life. In any case it plays really well so I am enjoying it .
