hey everybody

i thought this would be fun because we're always in near contact with hpw such as the whole warwick-crew and he may would build one for the warwick headquarter.

so what do you guys think about this idea of doing a custom shop all together?
we could do a weekly poll for every step until the specs are done... starting off with choosing a model, then woods, finish, pickups, hardware etc. etc....

at the end we will name it the forumers bass:)

I don't believe that such of bass would be really interesting...
Custom Shop is great to make one man's dream bass. Like the whole concept belongs to a single guy, and reflects him as a person as musician. And this is great! Making a "forumer's" CS, will bring a lot of ideas from different zones, and it will be just a bass with some expensive specs, that will not really mean anything for nobody.

Just my 2 cents :-)

i understand what your meaning and you're right.
but still i think this could be a cool move because i see us forumers as one big family and that is why i came to this step by step idea:

it should not be a meaningless bass with expensiv specs. it should be a bass which came from the fans who combined useful specs from the beginning to the end. of course not everybody will have the chance to get what they voted for but still can vote or bring ideas for further specs for the bass which is in discuss. and at the end warwick still could bring some better options for a proper and useful bass.

just an idea from me:)
 
lol... This would bring a LOT of discussion and argumentation !! It's a nice idea since it would gives to the company a good idea of what the majority would prefer...

But I agree with Florin that the goal to spend a lot on a custom is to get features that "you" personnally wants... Something just for you !!! and it's a great thing too !!!
 
I think it is a nice idea. Who cares what our moderator thinks :D, let´s do it!

(Although, I don´t think HPW will make such a bass, but who cares, dreaming is the start of the biggest achieves of mankind)
 
Florin is right about a lot of ideas coming from everywhere but Nacho is spot on about the dream starting somewhere, and where better than here? The thread could end up something like this one we did way back. Damn, I guess I do like to bring up old sh*t:) We did an actual "forum bass too, but I can't find it. Funny enough, I think Warwick came close to actually doing some of these. Either way, it was fun before and ideas from the newer faces might be fun.

Yeah! We've been thinking about this on the chatbox every now and then as well. We just need some guidelines or it will be a bitter and chaotic fight :d

I think maybe the more realistic thought, would be a "Forum Edition" of an already existing model. Maybe a Streamer with a twist, or something that us forumers actually would afford. Making something completley CS would be too expensive for most of us, I think (or guess). This could be one of the following:

*A special paint job or finish
*Pick-up configuration
*Matching headstock

And if done, one could do like "Pledgemusic.com" does, where people reserve and "pledge" with money so the company is guaranteed their payment, and the customer is guaranteed that either their instrument is made. The company first make a spesific amount of "pledges" they need, before they will continue with the production. If the amount is not reached, the reservation/money goes back the pledger.
 
I would second Florin for an all wenge neck, gold harware (but this would depend on the body finish)... and red side leds are nice...
- neck trough design with thin neck...
- How about pomele afzelia or a wenge boby, if natural oil finish would be the finish. These looks very nice with gold hardware... Is an all wenge body would be heavy ??
- I'm more conservative and I like a lot the streamer body, with the rounded shaped back that fits well over my belly !!! lol

And I think it should have a 4 strings version...
 
yeah if warwick want to keep the custom personal then how about a special edition? ones for sure: nameplate on 24th fret "the forumer" or "forum edition".

the vampyre was a result of the gitarre&bass magazine request, so why not something like this? i mean this will be a bass from the ideas of a lot warwick freaks, what do you want more warwick...?
 
I like the "Forum Edition" bass idea. Something affordable, like Charmand said. Maybe a Corvette $$ with a special finish or inlay, nothing too fancy to keep the price low. We could work out something in that direction.
 
Could even be a Pro Series, or a RB Corvette/Streamer. Matching headstock, signed HPW, "We are Warwick" on 12th fret.
 
I dunno... the last time we made a bass here, it was for the Single Cut... Some controversary about a Transilvanian winning and a forum member quitting and selling all his wicks. :d

so, who would own it? would we ever get to play it or see it in person? logistics are not workable, IMHO. Plus, my ideas for a CS bass are far different from many others.....
 
I'm with lasteffect but, then again, I think we've both been harping for a Fortress NT lol!!!! Only difference would be a Glockenklang preamp but everything else sounds great!!! Another idea would be:

Fortress NT 5 "Blonde"
5 piece curly maple/ebony neck
AAAAA Flame Maple fretboard
Broadneck (I know, much like the NT option the Fortress didn't have this either)
P-Nut pickup configuration
Solid AAAAA Flamed Maple body wings
Gold hardware
Brass frets
JAN III Brass Nut

Wait a sec, that's my dream Fortress :) Absolute slap monster that should sound damn smooth and articulate fingerstyle as well.
 
Hell, if I could afford it I'd shut up about it and have it LOL!!!!
