I have had my Corvette FNA 5 Jazzman for 2 months now and its a great bass. I have had my Ampeg Set Up for 6 months now. But when I married them together last weekend it was a divorce waiting to happen.
The Ampeg Rig: SVP-Pro Pre-amp and a Bse-410HLF Ampeg cabinet. I have a QSC 1480 feeding the cab 450 watts of pure clean power.
Its almost like they are arguing. I can not get a decent sound out of them. I don't know if its the pre-amp or the cabinet or the bass with the Ampeg Rig. I don't think its the bass. I have an Ampeg B-50R. (50 watts of Power going through a 12 inch speaker) and the Jazzman sounds great through it. But its my practice amp. I use to have a Spector ReBop 5 with 2 EMG-40DCs and ran it through the Ampeg Rig and it sang great. I don't know what to do? Advise Please.

What's wrong with the sound out of your Ampeg?? It's a little vague...What about running the vette passive? Does that change anything?? I had to adjust my gain on my amp when I first got my vette since the output was so hot.

If its to boomy its to hot and bright and tinty. Maybe I need to spend more time with it?

Hey it only was the first date. OK its not the love on the first sight. Let them time for knowing each other better and perhaps they miss a little romantic. So use for the next date some candles and hire a gypsy combo.

Perhaps the corvette is still in love with your practise amp or she is a little shy ?
:D :) :D

This is a good point. Give yourself some time to know your gear, try out every single setup until you find something that really pleases you and that you enjoy.

GUYS,

Theres gonna be a wedding after all. I just got back from rehearsal. My Ampeg SVP-Pro Pre-Amp has a pick-up select on the face of the pre-amp. It gives the option to choose between passive or active pick-ups. I had the passive on when I should have had the active on.

OH MY GOSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My bass sang to me. My cabinet and pre-amp made love on stage for the first time. After this I had to smoke to ciggy and I don't even smoke.
I never heard my Vette sound so good. It even sounds better on the rig then on the practice amp and the practice amp sounds great. (Its an Ampeg Combo 1x12)
I added a BBE Sonic Maximizer to the rig and it tighten everything up.

I can now sleep at night...................................................................
