Homemade Finisher

Hello, I'm new to the forum; a great resource indeed. I just got my 07' Corvette Std and I'm in love. It could use some wax, but I'm finding it hard to come by Warwick Finisher here in upstate New York. I don't want to pay incredible prices to ship a little tin of beeswax across the ocean, especially since I keep my own bees and have lots of fresh, natural beeswax.

Can anyone recommend a recipe for polish that would be best for my Bubinga Warwick? It is very easy to make polish from beeswax and various oils, distilled turpentine etc. Thanks for any tips!

I made my own when I cleaned up the last few basses. 4:1 turpentine/bees wax. Credit Sascha for the ratio.

Turpentine does seem a little spooky, but it is derived from wood. Just scary flammable:evil:. Thanks JSmith, I'll mix up that ratio and see how it comes out. I'll try to take some pics as I'm making the polish.

You're welcome. Yes it is highly flammable but if you're careful you'll be fine. Make sure you double boil the wax and then mix the turp away from the stove. The only caveat with turp is the stink and it takes a long time for it to go away. That said that mixture according to Sascha is how they do it to new basses so you'll probably want a tin of Warwick wax in the long run or Howard Feed and Wax.
