Hi Guys,

Just wanted to drop by and say hi...

I haven't been around much - after I got the sack from my band earlier this year I haven't really been playing... a little double bass - which has been something of a diversion, but my electric bass has been collecting a whole lot of dust :(

A bit depressing really, but I haven't forgotten my great forum friends - I hope you guys are all well.

:d

Cheers,

Luke.

Hey Luke, speak of the devil. It's great to see you again mate.
I've been meaning to contact you lately. The Hellborg preamp demo is currently in Australia, & will be making it's way from it's current location, Perth, to Visctoria sometime in the near year. I'm looking after some of the logistic side & wanted to know if I should put you down for a demo.
Anyway mate, lemmy know. I had it for a couple weeks & even at home, it's well worth trying. You might grab it off Jono so there's no shipping costs. Jono is slated at last place coz he'll be taking it back to Dominant.

Hi Greg,

Thanks - I'm certainly keen on having a look at it if that's OK... might be inspirational! I can pick it up/drop it off to Jono or the guys at Dominant... no sweat. Whatever works for you.

;)

Thanks,

Luke.

Hey Luke...welcome back man !... 8:

Welcome back - I was just thinking about you and Randy and some others that haven't posted for awhile. Nice to see you're back and I'm glad all is well... now pick up that 'Vette and make some noise! :)

Dude!! Been a bit too long man, get yourself on the bass again dude, theres plenty more band-shaped fish in the sea!!

Hi Luke :)

I haven't been on the forum too much lately, as well. So I'm kinda using your thread to say hello not only to you, but to everyone :)

Anyway, good to see you back. Your photographs of the Corvettes (and other stuff) are not something to be easily forgotten, as well as very informative input on ProFets, BlueCabs and other gear.

Welcome, brother :)

Thanks Martin, good to see you... how's that lovely GB-94 going?

:d

well, I don't have it anymore. Had to sell it when life got too hard. I haven't been playing bass for quite a few months.

Now, however, I'm back to playing. Actually, the time off might have been not so bad; I have to teach myself some stuff again, but looks like I got rid of a few bad habits :)

When I decided that it's time to buy a bass again, I was obviously looking for a bargain, and I was lucky to find one - it's a Yamaha BB605 in natural satin finish, got it for £100 (about $140) from eBay. Nice and very playable bass. I think I will be getting a GB94 again though, despite being a mass-production instrument it was just a perfect bass for me, both ergonomically and sound-wise. There was also a limited edition of the GB74 a couple years ago, fretless with piezo - gotta get one when it shows up somewhere ;)

But first I have to get an amp, there's one particular offer I hope to be quick enough to grab...

BTW Luke, do you use the 211 and 411 together? Are they both 8ohms? How does it work? I'm thinking of either getting two 211s or 211+115, but 211+411 might be good as well - three sizes of a rig to choose, depending on a gig.

Heh, I didn't realize you were playing a Cort in your avatar pic, for some reason I thought it was something much more expensive.

Hey Martin,

So sorry to hear you had to sell the GB94... but great that you picked up the yamaha so cheaply - well done :)

Sure I use the 211 and 411 together - both 8 ohms... also separately of course too - depending on the gig.

They sound great together - it's a huge sound though... really big, and I don't often need that much volume. Mostly I use one or the other.

I will say however, that my favourite configuration was the 2 x 211's stacked vertically together. Gee that sounded good!!!

I'm toying with the idea of selling the 411 in favour of another 211 again.

;)
