Howdy, The wife is doing pretty good now. If none of ya caught my myspace blog, She went into the hospital around xmas time for a burst appendix & a couple abscesses in her stomach, Long story short without getting into gruesome details, She spent over a week in the hospital during xmas and she's all healed up now and back to normal.

I sold the bass & amp rig, for multiple reason's... One being the tendinitis in my fretting/fretless'ing hand, Bill's, And because bass just didn't do it for me anymore... I felt like I had to minimalize myself and my posessions (as weird as that may sound)

So I'm now playing banjo, Not all that well if I may add... But I'm figuring it out. I also picked up this groovy didgeridoo while I was on vacation and can manage to get some pretty cool sounds out of that.

I now working full time as well, so that's keeping me pretty busy. Looking to get back into school to get a couple computer certifications and hopefully move up in life a bit. But I still drool over an 80's 4 string thumb and another markbass rig.

It was a heartbreak to sell my bass, But life has to go on... And I soon found myself needing that money I got from it to pay for rent and food.

I would... But I'm currently trying to save up some money to get a new/used car... Mine is almost dead :P

There was a Streamer 4 for sale around my area awhile back for $1,000USD... I should of jumped on it.
 
Sounds awful about your wife, but at least she's better now, hope that continues

I imagine a 4 string will be a lot easier on your fretting hand than a 6 string... and fretless easier again, IMO

I've sold a few basses that I've regretted, now I think about it... but there's always other basses! Don't forget if you get a new one, post the pics or it doesn't exist!
 
Good to see your life is getting back on track, Casey.

Remember, the bass is where heart is, so you`ll always have the rythm with you. 2`nd-hand Thumbs seem to show up often, so some time you might strike a good deal.

Banjo is f**ing cool, and really good fingerpickin` -practice.

Banjo is very interesting indeed, i can't wait to hear what modifications will be made to it!
 
Banjo mods... don't get me started! Oh! Too late!

I have 2 banjos, One is an Epiphone and one is a Fender... The Fender was nice, But didn't quite have the tone I was looking for... The Epiphone has the tone and feel. However it had cheaper parts, So I started by switching out the parts and putting the Fender parts on the Epiphone.

I also removed the clear coat finish from it and did a tung oil finish & Reshaped the headstock to be more paddle head style, Similar to the old fashioned openback banjos. I carved out a frailing scoop on the fretboard, Added a new tailpeice and bridge & That's about it...

I keep saying I'm going to build an instrument, But never get around to it... Banjo seem's to be like it would be a bit easier for me to build than a bass would of. So who knows, I may build a banjo pretty soon.

I'd love to build one out of some highly figured maple... The Epiphone has some really nice figuring on the mahogany neck. I really need to take pictures of it.
 
I've heard several people with carpel tunnel and such use short scale basses, they say its alot easier on their hands. If you want to get into highend stuff, watch ebay for some alembics. Or maybe a gibson sg bass. Maybe a warwick custom!

Do Warwick short scales have to be custom? I thought you could just order them, like you could a fretlesss or leftie, if they didn't have one in the shop.
One of the regulars on the forum a while ago (probably not so regular any more) posted some pics of his short scale Thumb and it looked great... can't remember his name though
 
Well, they are custom. But this means you simply order to any dealer a short scale Warwick of your choice :-)
 
A shortscale would be awesome... But I've been pondering an 80's NT 4 string Thumb...

Now if I didn't need a new car, I'd problaby be getting one with my tax return and bonus from work...

Well.being a bassist you should already have a pretty thick skin mate & remember that these comments from neighbours are just signs of envy coz their girlfriends booty's are shakin whenever that dark rumble is shakin the rafters.
I predict that you'll be back on board with a 4 string Warwick strapped on at some point.You wont be able to help yourself & stay away forever.Take it from me mate,the Streamers,especially the stage 2 will make you fall in love all over again & satisfy your thirst for tone for quite some time.Try & snag another Ampeg B15t like ya had before & you'll have the ultimate tone machine.I know that's a bold statement but I know what you like in a bass,trust me on this.You'll find this set up so impressive I think it's more than fair to say your mod days will be pretty much over with.
Now dont you be a stranger Casey & checvk back in from time to time & fer gawds sake,let's see them banjos.;)8:
