HELP: Need advice on oiling/waxing my warwick 6 vette natural finish!

Hey guys,

Bought a Warwick 6 $$ Corvette in the natural oil finish around the beginning of the year and need some maintenance help!

I know that Warwick recommends using bees wax (which my bass did not come with, for some reason) but i have had orange oil recommended to me...I'm sure the orange oil will work well for the body (US Swamp Ash) but what should i use on the neck (ovangkol) and fretboard (wenge)? I understand wenge is very porous so perhaps some lemon based fretboard oil for the wenge?

Also, i have noticed where the ovangkol neck joins the body it is quite dry looking, in comparison to the rest of the neck anyhow...will this change after oiling/waxing?

So please, help me out! I cant seem to get any solid advice at music stores and don't have any mates who own natural finish instruments...

Hi Sam, and welcome to the forum

You bought the bass new? If yes, ask your dealer for the Wax, they should give one to you.

Look for furniture wax containing beeswax and carnauba oil, it should be just fine...

Welcome Sam, you are correct. I recommend using Lemon Oil on the neck and fretboard. Although, some choose to wax the neck and oil the fretboard. Either way works. Just a matter of preference. I wouldn't use orange oil. I would source a can of Warwick wax. It will last some time, works the best and is a sure shot on protecting your valuable bass.
