HELP!!!! finish problem

Helo guys,
I just bought a sh Thumb NT5. The owner painted the oil finished surfece with tranparent laque. The laque is scraching out easiy in some parts and more difficult in other parts. However, in the wood are still traces of laque between the fibers.
I am just as stupid as the ex owner, so I began to scratch out the laque, now the bass is really ugly.
Help me with some advice here. I cannot remove all the laque by scratchin' it... So, should I use sand paper, or solvent? I think I must use some olvent tu remove the laque between the fibers.

I would maybe try some paint remover, but don't put it on real thick around the glue joints...

Safest option is good old elbow grease and sandpaper. Sand until all the lacquer residue is gone. Patience is a virtue, and sand with successively finer grades to avoid leaving sanding scratches...

Go slow, and enjoy. It is gloing to look better and better as you go...

Just sand it with different sand papers. Start with a 400 and then move up until you reach 1200... then just oil the bass and you should be fine.
