Hi Guys,

Newcomer here. I'm Malcolm from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Just got my first Warwick today :d . A 1999 FNA

It needed a lot of cleaning!!! Frets looks brownish and the body has lot of dirt too.
 
Oh my god, this is one of the first FNA's, super bass and nice pics. Setebos, can you tell us the serial number, that way we can tell you when it was built.
 
That's januari 1999, thats the second year they build FNA, so it is definitely one of the first FNA's build
 
Hi guys,

Based on the pics could you confirm if the neck is Wenge or Ovankol. At first I thought it was wenge but I read some FNA have Ovankol neck with wenge fingerboard instead of all wenge.

On the other hand I realised that the PU poles are not grounded. Is there any way to fix this?

It's wenge neck,wenge fingerboard mate.
The pickups themselves should have a ground, or earth wire, rather than each individual pole piece.
Is it overly noisey?
 
Thanks Greg. Is not noisy by itself but it does make noise if my fingers touch the surface of a pole. Particularly the one on top and closer to the bridge (view from above when wearing bass strapped). At the moment I lowered (screwed in) the PU a bit to avoid contact.
 
I know this is a really old thread but I thought I would start here. I recently bought an FNA, 1999, serial is 63 units older than the one in this post. Lovin' this bass especially since I got the overly waxed finish on the back of the neck and the broken JAN2 corrected. I too am noticing noise when touching the pole under the E-string closest to the bridge. Exactly as described above! I too noticed that the poles are not grounded. I did some reading on TalkBass that suggests that this may be necessary in some pickup designs. Is just the way this pickup is? Is there a more elegant solution than, perhaps, tape or some kind of coating (thinking of maybe some clear epoxy) to insulation the pole from my finger electrically?
