Good day, all! New member Henry M. (72jazz) here! I've been a bassist for 37 yrs. now; yes, I'm 55! (Yeow!) And still doing earth-moving via our favorite instrument......playing the (Warwick) bass!
I've owned three so far. The first a Warwick Corvette Proline 5-string, then I've played a Warwick Dolphin Pro 1 5-string, and I'd just picked up a 97 Thumb 5-string. And of the three? I liked the Corvette, though I couldn't reach the upper frets comfortably, the Dolphin was, so far the most balanced and access was good; and the Thumb.....some adjustment required.....hopefully with the new Thumb's Warwick has corrected the neck dive/imbalance issues with this bass. I've had it for almost a week and was initially disappointed with it for it's awkward positioning in relation to body dynamics! But, I've moved to the second hole up on my Levy's strap, and it balances ok. As Florin pointed out to me that I'd get used to it and it's taken a week, but I have! (I think)
I've also a 1972 Arctic White Jazz Bass, and a Warmoth/Sadowsky 4-string fretless. The story was the former owner bought the parts from Warmoth, and had Sadowsky West-Coast put it together while he was at the B.I.T.
(bass institute of technology!) I've also a 66' P Bass which I've an interest in selling, and is now on ebay, if there's an interest......Thanks all, and good day, Henry!
P.S. Also, and as for musical venture's; I'm the worship leader at my church in Norwich Ct. USA! And I'm in three groups also at present. One Christian cover group, acoustic based; one original Christian band w/a pop-rock feel: and a GB/Wedding type band just starting up but is very promising, working mostly with people with a jazz-feel.....making me stretch and listen a little more than normal, it's a good thing!
As for influences: Jack Bruce, Tim Bogert-Cactus, JACO, Mike Stern, Brad Paisley, Richard Bona, Tom Kennedy, Dave Weckl, Jimmy Johnson-Flim & the BB's and James Taylor, Dennis Chambers, Eva Cassidy....
