New to the forum, Hello from Cleveland. Might as well ask a question. any recomendations on strings? I have used dadario strings for years but they don't make a tapered set. Using DR's now but would like other players input. Just got a 5 string corvette a couple of moths ago. Been playing about 33 years and clearly the best bass I have owned.

Well, there are a lot of "string topics" here, take your time and read them.
The thing is nobody can tell you which ones are good for you.

DR are a safe buy indeed, if you like them, keep them :-) There are not many better strings out there ;-)

A lot of guys here will recommend you to try the Warwick EMP :-)
They are coated, stainless steel, keeep their original sound for a long time.
Give them a try :-)

Thanks guys. New to tapered strings so wanted an opinion. Can't say enough good things about this bass. Have not had the growl since getting rid of my old rick years ago. Decided that as long as I been playing I deserved a really nice bass and boy did I make the right choice. Gets the same growl as the rick but much more Versatile. Looking forward to chating with others in the forum.

atm I got some (new) EBS Northern Light Stainless Steel on my basses... and they're pretty okay..
but like Flo said.. there's more flavours than strings ;)... so shop around and have fun !!

Re.strings.DR,Fodera,Warwick,Rotosound etc all offer some great strings.First find out if you prefer steel to nickel,then try out as many as you can.You'll find your perfect string soon enough.
 
I have been using pro steels by dadario for years but they don't make tapered strings so I was wondering what other tapers people like. Also do tapered tend to break more than regular? I have been know to break them and the I could feel if the pro steels where getting ready to die. Hope I didn't sound like a newbie on bass, just a newbie to Warwick. Thanks to for everyone's input glad to be here.
 
They don't break easier.
I thik tapered B strings sounds better, they have a better sustain...
 






If you're happy with the strings you've been
using and your only reason to change is the
"need" for a tapered 'B' to fit the Warwick ...
then you really need to search the forum on
that issue. Less than half of us [my casual
estimate .... ] actually use tapered strings.
Those who do NOT will either file out the tail
piece slot a bit wider, or squeeze the string
down to an oval cross section to fit the slot.

Ken Smith makes great tapered strings with good variety. I would love to hear my forum brothers opinions on these.
 
Thanks for all the info everyone. If the DRs are not prone to breaking I do really like the sound so will stick with them for now. I will give you all a report back after playing them for awhile. Seems like I found a cool group here.
