Hi All,

I've had a few Warwicks over the years (Vette NT $$, Vette Sted, even a Buzzard BO) and I've had my fretless Vette for a long time now, but I got a 93 Fortress One a few months ago which is just fantastic. When I say fantastic, I mean the wenge neck is just perfect for me. It's an early F1, without the volute and with the two cutouts in the body either side of the neck.

It's so good that I'd like to get hold of another Wick with that neck profile. To be honest, the rest of the bass I can cope with/change if neccessary (I replaced the p/ups in my Fortress with Wizard ones to get the sound I was after) but it's that glorious narrow wenge neck I'm after.

Are there any current models with that neck/profile, or am I going to have to look for secondhand? If so, which older models shared that great neck? I should add that CS isn't really an option for me at the moment, unless my nnumbers come up on the Lottery tonight...

Thanks in advance guys,

Muzz

Hi Muzz,

The neck profile changed at least twice since then. Now it is even slimmer than that, but it is not exactly the same profile as that. Buying second hand does not help if you don't test it before, because we were not very consistent with neck profiles back then :-)

I think a new Warwick, with the new neck profile would be good for you.

Take a look here: Warwick Basses Amps & Rock'n Roll
We have 3 neck profiles for you to chose. Standard one is pretty slim already.

all the fortress models I owned One, MM, flashback had the same neck profile (years 93-96) as far as I can tell.

The old vette pros should have the same neck.

If you play mainly lower frets, the current profile may fit. Closer to body, modern necks are thicker.
