Wow, first off, like the new Forum lay-out etc. Good to be back!

The reason for my thread (and it's title...)

My 1st, one and only Warwick is my awesome Nirvana Black $$, fretted four.
I had originally started out to purchase a standard Bubinga 'Vette, but anyway-
While the salesclerk was looking for the correct gigbag, I saw, played, the $$-

Change of Heart!
Not that the 'Vette would not be and IS supreme (What 'Wick is not??)
but the $$-
Hence my post!

Fortunes have smiled, and I recently purchased not 1, but 2 new basses, by "another" maker- Shall I say??? Lemme know...

Of course all my instruments have a flavor and feel that is unique, but being "the new kids" these basses have been getting a lot of TLC and playing-time, as they should.

But--this morning-
I went to the $$-
and tho it it apples and oranges, etc. and tho they are all MINE! all Mine!

I confess-

I forgot how awesome a Warwick is. The feel, the depth, the range, the PUNCH, and oh yes... the GRrrrrrrrrrrowl.

A delight to own, a bigger delight to play!

I apologize to the faithful within, I have not/will not leave the fold.
I've LONG yearned for a 'Wick Custom Shop, and maybe some day-

BTW- Saw 'Wick at NAMM... Wonderful.

ANyway-
I do like the new Forum look, and I certainly do want to renew my vows to one of the world's best basses- and that is a fact.

Ao hello agian, everybody- C'mon, group hug!

Welcome back fellow $$ player!
I've had a musicman SUB bass for just over a year now (it might as well be a stingray, sounds exactly the same) and i thought that was my sound, i didn't think you could get any more growl than that, but having bought a nirvana black corvette $$ fretted four, same as yours yesterday and having just A/B'd that and my musicman, WOW am i impressed!

Heaps more growl and punch than the musicman! I love it!!

you're forgiven as long as you have a Wic on your arsenal ;):lol:

these are amazing basses and besides Warwick I also love Spectors and EBMM.

Thank you, I've just uttered (3) "Hail Warwick"'s so I'm good!

Yes- I FORGOT- how much tonal variety is in the $$- Actually it's amazing because once you get a great sound doing ...whatever with the 2-band eq; even flat...You have..."the toggles!!" to play with and OH, MAN! do they EVER add some, well...ballz to the mix.

I truly love this instrument, it is crafted to custom-build quality, the feel, the cool matte finish, the MEC's...wowzer!

I have (9) basses now- each one is special, ranging from an incredible '69 P-Bass, to a G&L, to A Tobias, to a MM Sterling, to my latest (2) NEW Rickenbackers.

And each is wonderful, but NONE has the Warwick wood, neck, sound or MOJO. Truly a great thing.

A THUMB has been on my Wish list to Own for many many years, and maybe, just maybe.

ANd the Warwick Custom Shop??!!?

PLEASE....!

You're KILLIN' ME!

Great to be back posting on the Forum and like I said before, "Thanks" to all involved for keeping it going so well.

'Wick players are a great community! Why not? We Be dialed-in!

Awesome, your arsenal sounds similar to mine! 'wick corvette $$, musicman SUB bass x2, tobias toby pro 5, good stuff :)

Welcome back Real Deal :-)

I used to have a wardrobe full of basses too... But to be honest I hate to see unplayed basses, I have the same sad feeling I have at the Zoo. So I sold them, and kept only 3-4 basses :-)
You can post pics with ALL the basses you have, btw. It's not like you cannot toalk about your Fender here.
Cheers, Florin

LOL-
Thanks so much Florin, I will focus on my present Warwick $$ here, and post of my LUST for other's Warwick basses (including many of yours my Friend!)

I was afraid for a moment there that upon posting my reason for "absence" I might have been placed in the "Forum Holding Pen" for a time, forced to think about my straying from my $$ for a period of time...
In the States here, we call it going to "the Hole"!

But I'm appreciative of "forgiveness!"

I am afraid of entering the 'Wick Custom shop, because my head would spin and my wallet would empty (well, my Credit Card at least!) but someday-

I will!
(Thinking custom-crafted Thumb! Oh Wowwww...)

:-)

The Warwick Custom Shop is great, but you have to be well prepared before ordering such a bass. The risks are to spend a lot of money on expensive woods and stuff, and in the end to like your standard $$ better.

With things they are in the economy today I'm not selling any basses. I offered a coworker my RB Corvette Basic, transparent blue, active (and actually wired correctly from the factory) with a Premium Rockbag for 300 bones. It is literally like new. I payed about 280 without the bag plus shipping less that a year ago. Hardly used it. They thought it was too much, well, hell, I aint giving it away.

Lately, my Warwicks and EBMMs [and etc's] sit at home
while my Peavey-G goes out and parties. I just loooove
shopping at home. So many great redicoveries to make,
and the price is always right ! Flo might see it as a sad
zoo, but I see it as my personal home shopping network.

From Lounge Lizardry to Puerto Rican Dance Party, all in
one night ... there IS no "right" or "best" ax for my gigs,
but I personally enjoy the variety of tools I can deploy.

All will have shortcomings, but if the shortcomings vary
from ax to ax, and the musical demands that highlight
strengths and shortcomings vary unpredictably, then I
never find any shortcoming to be constant enuf to annoy
me, and I never fall toadally, unshakeably, and faithfully
into bass love for any one ax, or genre or builder.

So I should buy the Starbass5 then?

Welllll .....

If'n they're anaawwt go-in-tuh GIVE yuh onnne ...

they-uhn ... I'm like to s'poh-zette ... yuhd juzz
bedderoff buy it 4uh yuh owen dayuhm self.

The Star Bass looks amazing, and the Hellborg Bass as well.

Is there no end??
Apparently not-
That's why I now have (9) basses, soon to be 10-(Ordered 2-3 months- you don't wanna know!)

ANd if I ever "walk" into the 'Wick CS, it's gonna be 11 for shnizzle!

You ever wanna get rid of that G, you let
me know Golem! ;)

Awww geez shuckinz .... yall don't want THAT ol
thang. Zawl moddy .... pro defret, BadAss, and
four giant ol bake-oh-lite rad-e-o knobz ... ?

It's one of a kind. The 'tronix are stock and it's
a keeper. What really hurts me is to hear such
a request as yours and recall how the local GC
finally hadda bump out my stock, fretted G-4
for less than they gave me in trade. I was really
tempted to buy it back .... but I didn't.

Wanna know how it feels to play a G-4 FL ? Just
look at my avatar. That IS the ax, and IIRC it's
moaning a 12-bar, waaayy slooowww.
