Hi all, long time since i was here, but i´m glad to be back =)

I just bought a Warwick WCA611 PRO for 298€ (NEW from Thomann)
and now i saw that they also have reduced prices of TubePath 5.1/10.1 to about
600/800€.
Should I go for it ? I need a top for my new box anyway, and i very much like the sound of W amps.
Is it a great chance to get such an amp for under half the price?
I have the money and I don´t need it that badly in the near future.
How are the chances to sell this rig if i really would need money? (let´s hope i don´t have to part from it :D )
What do you think ?

What´s the better amp for the WCA 611 - TubePath 5.1 or 10.1 ?
Besides the +500W does the 10.1 have any functions the 5.1 doesn´t have?

I'd go for a 10.1, an amp can't have too much power but it can have too little power...
Both are GREAT sounding amplifiers. A 10.1 only has more muscle then a 5.1, for the rest they are the same.
 
+1 for the 10.1 Especially if your 611 is the 6 ohm model.
 
the more power the better and i wouldn't base buying the amp on resale value if it sounds good and you want it go for it.and enjoy it.most things used are not going to bring in a good return just loo at the used bass market a lot of real nice stuff is going cheap cause people aren't buying and amps don't have that personal feeling you get from a bass.so there resale is even worse.

And the tubepath is an awesome amp!!! You won't be disappointed!

I let the whole thing go through my mind yesterday and came to the same conclusion.
I wouldn´t buy it on resale value. I buy it because I need a good amp and love the warwick sound (had the chance to test it once in a store in munich, sadly the room was like 2x5 meters -.-" but I immediately fell in love with the sound). More asked of curiosity.
Think I will go for a TubePath 10.1. This way I don´t have to worry about the sound and power of my
amp for a long time :d Plus our guitarist will go nuts. Well if I think of his 15watts amp it will be quite small nuts ;-) But anyway :twisted:
 
love it when you can over power the guitar,love the loook on there face when the marshall 100watt stack doesn't do the job.and the bass slams them.not hat i'm childish

I bought the Tubepath 5.1/611 combo a few months ago, and got a really really good deal on it - but seeing the Thomann offer makes me weep ;-)
It's an excellent setup, although my main bass (Ibanez ATK) sounded better through a 410/115. But with my fretless (old Ibanez Blazer), the ground shakes.

I suggest you go for it right now.

By the way thanks to all who helped me decide :)

Ordered last weekend, yesterday my new TubePath 10.1 arrived, hope my 611 comes today/tomorrow.
Man this blue W looks :twisted:

Short question though - When I turn on the amp i can hear a buzzing/humming noise coming from the tubes. It´s getting more quietly after some minutes. Is this a normal noise when the tubes are heated or something I should be worried about?

PS: Thomann lowered the price for the 10.1 in germany another 100€ - it´s 598€ now, like the 5.1 :eek:
 
I can't remember a buzzing noise, but you could smell the tubes for a few weeks (we only rehearse weekly).
Are you sure it's not the fan?
We'll rehearse tomorrow, I'l check mine.

I again listened carefully. It comes from about the point where the speakon cable is connected. Fans both aren´t running. It´s louder directly after turning the amp on and then fades. Has to be quite quiet to hear it then. Perhaps it´s because I havent connected a cab atm. ?
 
Problem solved!
I wrote the WW support - seems to come from the transformer and is a normal noise.
So it shouldn´t be a problem.

(you were right about the tubes - hope they sound better than they smell :D )
 
Good to hear! I'll check anyway tonight. I'm envious though of your fans not running – mine are always on, which is ok when you're playing, but makes you leave the room for the cigarette break (which is better anyway, so there's a good side to it :-)

Congratulations on your purchase man!!! Yeah that humming noise is just the tubes warming up, nothing to worry about!! Enjoy your amp!!
 
It's always interesting to hear little pops coming from power valves when it's turned on and off.
