Man,

I just finished shredding on my "bass", and figured I should post this experience, the ingredients are:

- neck PU only
- bass pot to minimum
- treble pot to maximum
- serious distortion

And off you go !!! Playing guitar on your bass !!! Sacrilegious ?? Mwahhhh, I don't mind dancing with the snakes once in a while !!! ehehehe
I played Pear Jam's "Alive", but maybe I should try Hendrix or something........
Maybe I should get these super skinny bass strings that Caldwell or Carbonne uses, and replace the G and D strings with them..........dunno..............You could change from playing clean bass on the A and E string, then play distorted guitar on your two skinny bass strings..................awesome............. :D

imagine what a dedicated pickup, separate output and a volume pedal could do :D

Actually..................I cannot imagine that; I am a complete guitar n00b, ehehehehhe; I wrote somewhere else on this forum that I can't even tell the difference between a Gibson and a Fender guitar !!! But I'm sure having fun with my current setting though. :D

As Soon as you change the strings your journey to the dark side shall begin  Your journey will be complete when you have a 6 string bass with all guitar strings and you play with a pick! :) Just kidding man, I have heard of players mixing steel and nickel and even brands on the same bass. Have fun, go crazy. I don't use distortion often but for some reason it helps me come up with interesting solos. Oh yeah, and when I play Queens of the stone age "Little sister" it's a must.

I'm glad to read you talked about Yves Carbonne... He's a much appreciated and talented french bass player...

Sorry I've referred to him, only because he uses really thin strings; the ones that I want to use to "shred" on my bass...........
Indeed, he is a great player, and one of the few with the mentality of: "Low F-sharp ?? That ain't low enough for me dude..........."
I got to know him through Jerzy Drozd............... Boy oh boy, his 10 string Legend is a MONSTER....................I think he's even having a 12 string too.............

There is one bassist Jaqx or something (can't remember the speliing! :D) that tunes his bass C#, F#, B and E! Low enough for you? :D
