hi some people have told me that my corvette that i have order will not growl is this so ?
 
i heard a youtube clip of someone playing 'dig' on an $$ ash corvette, and yep... it ddnt growl (its either his playing or his bass at fault) ... however, i noticed it has a rounder low end than a thumb and well, a darklord - both of which are treble and high mid growlers
 
I am waiting for a corvette $$, the one I played in the shop growled . Grrrowl :wink:
 
It think either way, your bass will have superior sound qualities. And while somebody has claimed that ash-versions doesn`t growl that much as a more standard bubinga-body, I think you`ll experience that unique Warwick-tone anyway. Growl is a personal definition. Did you try out the Corvette Ash before you ordered it?
 
charmand d is right, growl is how you perceive it. if you where going for that bass with the intentions of emulating ryans sound than you might of choose the wrong warwick.
dont get me wrong, you will still be able to get a growly sound out of it but it wouldnt be the same a a thumb

this is what you should do, go to the store and cancel your order,
explain that you didn't realize that there were 2 NT vettes. If its a good dealer they will sort it out for you. Have you already paid for the bass?
 
come on, bubinga just has extreme growl. it's that much that it would growl like hell with normal eq setting.

but ash is a very growly wood, too.
you can make it growl a lot with an ash bass.
maybe with bubinga you will have the problem of not being able to turn the growl off if you need a clean sound (am i right ?).

i had an ash corvette before, and there was plenty of growl.

of course, it depents on how you play.
use the bridge pickup, and pluck the strings just above the bridge pickup.
that will give you growl, even in normal eq settings. if you need more, there is the midrange pot, that will help...

I think the $$ ash NT is a cool bass. I wouldn't cancel it...
 
My Yamaha is an ash bodied bass and it growls just fine! The vette will only growl more and generally sound better.
 
me too.

bubinga has a lot more weight.
you just have to try both and check if that extra growl makes it worth for you.
 
All of this 'growl' talk is so damn subjective anyway....I mean...who's to say we're even talking about the same thing when we use the word?

I think, for all intents and purposes, clever marketing and endless repetition has led us to associate some Warwick sounds with 'growl'.

Therefore, being that 'growl' is what Warwick basses do, and given that the bass you have placed on order is indeed a Warwick...

...yes. Your bass will growl. If you want it to.

As a matter of fact, I do growl too when I'm playing Mr Charming with the ladies. But I really do not sound like a Warwick at all. Unfortunately.
 
My stomach growls and I live near Warwick....does that help?
 
Your bass will have plently of growl, don't worry. Of course, with different wood choices comes different tonal qualities. With regard to the Corvette NT . . . Ash has a warmer sound while Bubinga has a tighter more compressed sound, but both will give you growl, at least to my ears. Your mileage may vary. Just don't forget the most important part . . . the way you use your hands will have a very large impact on your tone.

That is the BO $$, wazza is asking about the NT $$.

I can't help but think that this post is partly due to my comments on an earlier thread, so I'm sorry if I have mislead anyone. According to Warwick, the primary ingredient to "growl" is an ovangkol or wenge neck and a wenge fretboard. Regardless of our individual definitions of growl, a maple neck bass will sound much CLEANER or CLEARER than an ovangkol neck bass. Does it still growl? Maybe so. But I own both, and at the very least they are not the same...
