Golden Era?

What years are officially considered the “golden era” of Warwick? I tried a google search and no real definitive info came up. Is there actually a set period or is it just the opinion of certain folks? I realize probably everything 80’s is golden. Just wondering how far into the 90’s it goes. I’m asking because I just bought a 93 Steamer bolt on for a great price. Still awaiting shipping. Regardless of if it’s considered golden or not I’m still excited that it was the first year for the bolt on and it has the 5 piece maple/Wenge laminated neck 😀.
 
Don't listen to Mr Grumpypants. It totally matters to some of us super Wick nerds. For me the true golden era would be their original factory. Despite all the flaws, warped necks, hits and misses, you name it... there were some amazing handmade works of art coming out of that building during that time. That would be my Warwick Golden Era. In short.... anything 80's and dipping into the early 90's.

Lastly, I think anything with a JAN2 on it, by default, has to have the golden era title taken away from it.... UNLESS you get one with both tabs INTACT. Then, priceless! So maybe that's the cutoff....when JAN2 was introduced. lol

And @studio_45 that 1st year Streamer BO is totally golden 😃

Really depends what you are seeking for, and what the pricing in your part of the world is.
What counts for me (personally) is the Pretzfeld area, when instruments were hand carved/shaped, before CNC machines came in.
Nowadays instruments are probably better, early instruments are unique.
If you get an early one for a decent price, go for it, and leave the Rockbass aside.
And, like with any collectibles, the early the better ;)
 
Golden era? Well, if you want, or have the internal need, to put tags on things, I guess everything from the beginning (mid 80s) until mid/late 90s could be named like that. Like @Hoggles said, mostly everything that came from the original factory.

Does it have any real value? Well, I'm in Mr. Grumpypants team here. 😉
 
By the way, forgot to say that, in my opinion, when someone uses the "golden era" cliche is to justify a bigger price tag. Am I wrong? 😁

 
In a few years, Golden Era will be under Hans-Peter Supervision. :-)
There is no Golden Era, early instruments were handcrafted with all the caveats coming along, then it was "pre industrialized" and nowadays its only anual sanding.
I'm with Grumpypants, GOlden Era means something different to anyone. In my oprinion, anything with Ovangkol is Silver era :-) Best poeriod for me would be 86/98.
Agreed with @Nachobassman and @DiMarco : when someone says golden era they want to justify a price tag.
 
Boy, I opened up a can of worms by invoking the “golden era” label. I was just curious. The seller didn’t use it in the listing at all. his asking price was on the lower side as well. I offered him $150 less and he took it. It was a good deal. The bass is fantastic and I really enjoy it. That’s all that matters.
