Hey folks, one of the guitarists in my band has dropped out meaning I'm the only guy on stage not glued to a mic for 80% of our gigs so I was thinking of going wireless. Anyone got a wireless system they can recommend? I'm on a bit of a budget so £150 is pretty much top of the price range.
 
I'm not sure what that comes out to in dollars, but the the line 6 x2 is a good place to start. the cheapest model is around $300 here in the US.
after that, the price goes up alot. I tryed the x2 on my bass and it was fair sounding to me. but I had no real problems with it other then the sound. and its not that bad either! I just had the money to go a step higher for the Sennhieser G2
there are cheaper ones out there but the sound isn't that good on alot of them. its kind of a hit and miss thing. you just have to try them and find one that will sound half decent. see if your local stores have some setup to try out..
try them out and compare it to a cord connection..
 
i was looking at the sennheisers on the internet, they seemed fairly reasonable in price but if the sound quality isn't that great then it's not worth spending anything at all as i wont use it lol.

I'll have to look around for a music store, i don't live near any big cities so if i can find a shop with more than 3 different bass guitars in it i count myself lucky!
 
I always go wireless playing live and let me tell ya, once you go wireless, you won't want to go back. Even on small stages where I don't have much room to move around, the freedom of not having any cords attached to me, or underfoot is so cool. I believe mine is a Samson. Its a cheaper one, but as long as I keep a fresh battery in it I never had a problem. It does thin out my sound a little, but I make that up at my amp.

Sorry I don't have any reccomendations for you besides, yes, buy one. You will love it.

I am using a Shure one (sorry, cannot remember the model) but it is much superior to others I've tried. Don't buy a cheap one if you want to use it, not to keep it in a closet :-)
 
i've been using a shure pg14 which you can pick up for £170 including delivery i think?

and i think these akg ones are pretty good:

when I first tryed the line 6 x2, I thought the sound was real boomy in the low end. after a week of messin' with the EQ I gave up and got the Sennhieser G2. that was the only thing I didn't like about the X2. its a good wireless. no dropouts and its dead quite. just wasn't doing it for me in the sound department.
when I got the G2 the sound improved greatly but the trade off was the noise. its not bad with the G2 but it does present a little more noise. but you don't hear it when your playing and a good noise gate in the chain catches most of it.
after talking with a lot of guitarist about wireless, the one complaint I hear the most is the loss of sustain. not bad but just enough for the player to notice. most people listening would hear any difference.

I checked, I am using Shure SLX 1... Highly recommended ;-)
 
got a feeling the shure one might be a bit xpensive, i'll have to see if i can find any good deals when i've got some spare time. Thanks for the advice, though
