"I'm New Here" is actually a cover of a Bill (Smog) Callahan track - it's a beautiful rendition though. It was from his last album in 2010 which was recorded. I played this track from the same album to my wife in the car a few weeks ago (before Gil passed on):

Never seen her cry over a piece of music before, the lyrics are even more poignant today.
I saw him a good few times including a gig where he just played with a Fender Rhodes and a harmonica player. His percussionist had just died prior to him flying into the UK but he still did the gig (it was actually a book relaunch for Gil's novel). He was in pieces for the first half, swearing at the Rhodes complaining it was out tune, mumbling to himself, anyways he disappeared off stage, "sorted" himself out, came back on and played "Winter America" - it was jaw dropping. He then went on to play "The Other Side / Home is Where the Hatred Is", 25 mins of self analysis as to his very public drug habit - again tragic but compelling. Probably in my top-3 gigs ever.
