So, what sort of music is ur Warwick enjoying at the moment?
Mine sure is playing a LOT of Funk/jazz/80's pop. I'm rehearsing for a test to a pre-music conservatory school, and I'm playing "What's happening" by danish bass-player Lars Danielsson and "Once in a Lifetime" by Michael Ruff (Yeah way before my interest in music started :wink: ) which also is featuring Lars "DK" Danielsson on bass.
 
I've been listening to some more jazzy/bluesy stuff... I'm currently working on figuring out how to read music (sad isnt it?) using some jazz/blues/rock from this little book I got


I'm also into In-Flames (again) I got the bass parts to cloud connected stuck in my head...
 
Mine is enjoying jazz, funk and orchestral stuff. It seems to like it :D
 
My Vette $$-5 is enjoying Rock and Britt-pop and some harder stuff containing quiet a bit of slap 'n pop. Very versatile here.

I resently joined an additonal band playing Latin Rock/pop/funk. Thought my incoming SS1-5 would come in handy here. Can't get the right tone with my $$ here. /Pat
 
Funk and late 70's rock/blues type stuff right now. Doing alot of Jeff Beck stuff with a guitarist I'm working with...

I finally sat down and was playing with the controls on a $$ at GC and that has some mean tone to it! I couldnt manage to pull off slap & pop on it... but for finger style that would be awesome for death metal :D

As discussed frequently here in the forum, it's difficult in the beginning. I have no problem with slap at all. For popping you have only the very small space between the bridge PU and the neck. It takes time to learn but it's doable. Some people lower the PUs but I don't fancy that due to lack of signal. Playing around with the PU switches and the pan pot gives you a million possibilities.

For a slap tone I usually Leave the lows flat and increase the high. Pan slightly towards the neck PU. Neck PU series or single, bridge PU parallel.
 
I'm starting on Bach,

when people should ask me something to play, it's kinda silly playing riffs of bands I listen to like TOOL or Rage Against The Machine......... It's not obvious to play Bach on bass, but I believe there are transcripts available, and it should be a blast once you nail the thing. Not to mention Bach kicks some serious "derriere" ................ :D
 
Yeah. Bahc is great. I played "Suite 1" awhile back. Written for Chello, but great for u technique on bass. Funny enough the first phrase is the hardest one as I recall.... Damn tough for ur fingers (on the frets). Whole song (2 pages I had) is 16th (almost).... Damn them classical playing ****! :P No seriously it's great. And sounds amazing on a bass! IMHO
 
Did I just type Bach wrong? That must be a sin of some sort... Well I won't be getting any sleep now.... I'll have a classical ghost huanting me... geeeeeez

...with a wee little bit of Cradle of Filth when I wanna go slow. :wink:
 
My Warwick and I play in a concert band and a guitar ensemble. Ive been learning Bach Correlles, and ive been relearning Funk techniques. Ive also been studying Japanese music, and ive been grooving to some latin stuff. My neighbour wants to start a classic rock band with me to...

So there ya go. I think "everything" would have worked.
 
I've been playing middle eastern type vibe with a hint of japanese influence. I've been looking at the tunings of the Japanese shamisen (a 3 string type lute) and trying to immulate that on bass. Very unusual but also great fun.

Mainly Funk.. But RnB, Soul, Blues, Pop, Rock, Latin... whatever I feel like or whatever the gig calls for..
 
This are not ordered by preference, but for playing time each month

Metal, quite mixed, each member of the band comes from a different background, so our songs suffer and at the same time benefit from that.

Pseudo Funk, I call it pseudo because there is a lot of old school slapping but it is just two bass players and a drummer. My ERB really shines here in terms of usability and musical application.

Jazz/fusion, I really would love this project to start seriously.

Weird music that only sounds good to me, I think every body plays this style which consist on experiments whith effects, alternate tunings and rare stuff at home :D

+1 for the japanese stuff I have also been researching about the shamisen and the japanese scales

+1 For the Bach... I've been playing a little bit lately also... But using double thumping and working on the double thump + pop with a few of em... Mainly the easier Bach stuff though.
