It's made from some some scrap wood. It fits well. It stains easily though (even though I finished it with some warwick wax). Sorry for the poor quality pics (they're from a cell phone).

Sweet.. Ever think about putting a dark stain on it to match the Bubinga? THAT would be awesome!
 
you should try and get a pc of bubinga for the ramp or a pc of ebony to match the pups i like the ramp just not the color it stands out to much
 
I've been thinking about doing this for awhile. Did you just trace around the pickups and use a router to cut the slots? The guy that did my bubinga control knobs said he could do a ramp for me as well, he just needs the dimensions.
I'm not sure if I should choose bubinga to match the body or ebony to blend in with the pups...... anyone know the weight difference between the two? I don't want to add too much weight to an already heavy bass ;)
 
i'm not sure of the weight but with wood i think you could get either to weight about the same the extra weight might make the bass balance betteri vote for black ebony so it matchs the pups.

Yeah, ebony is what I was thinking as well... I'll have to take some measurements and get a price quote. Playing over the ramp is definitely the sweet spot for the pickups.
 
Nice work. I have also been think of doing this for my thumb for quite a while, however I fear the ramp would be a very complicated piece to create: 1. the curved body of the thumb would require a large radius to be cut into the underside of the ramp, 2. the slanted bridge pickup on the thumb adds additional geometrical complications. It would be a fun project though, especially if I could get a piece of bubinga. I was also thinking maybe I could create a mold somehow to get the geometry just right, then fill it with clear plastic or something.
