There is a very small screw on the top of it, if you turn it right it will tighten up. Also there is the option of having too much string leftover wound up around the machine head. Sometimes this cause extra pressure and the string won't stay in tune. When putting the strings on try not to leave more than two extra inches.
How many times does the string wind around the machine head? I usually go for no more than 3 - if it's too much I'll unwind and clip a bit extra off. Think I had the same trouble myself a long time ago (with the g string too... why the G string?) but not with a Warwick bass!
