Hey everyone,
This is a post completely irrelevant to our forum but I thought of sharing a word in case we could get some more help from any of you.

This is a fundraising campaign about the daughter of a close friend. Within a few days of her birth, she was diagnosed with a very rare type of life threatening brain cancer (hemangiopericytoma or HPC).

Against all odds, on her 14th day Irene survived a major brain surgery to have part of the tumour removed. After spending a few weeks in Intensive Care and several more minor operations later (mainly to cure hydrocephalus), she started receiving chemotherapy. The first chemo plan lasted for four months and Irene received a dose per week. She has proven to be a strong baby, tolerating chemotherapy well, overturning predictions and making us proud of her. Irene recently had an MRI full body scan which showed no sign of metastasis and an impressive reduction of the tumour's size. We are now more hopeful than ever..

Irene has just started another 4-month chemo plan. Even though she is now at home, she will still have to visit the hospital on a weekly basis. A second surgery is possible. She still has a long treatment to fight the tumour and deal with the effect it has on her eyesight and hearing. The on-going medical expenses are adding to the family's constant battle and this campaign is an attempt to take some weight off their shoulders.

Any support, no matter how small, will be truly appreciated.

Man, thats terrible! I can't imagine the emotions of her parents. I have 3 kids myself, and it breaks my heart just thinking about this.

They have had an awful year, apart from the baby...

Really saddening stuff. Will add to the funding soon as the wallet recovered from buying a Warwick I shouldn't have.
