Hey,

I'm interested in buying a fretless Warwick soon and was wondering what strings they come with. Afterall they can't be too rough on the fretboard. Does Warwick manufactour any strings I could use later when I need new strings? THNX
 
I'm guessing that the strings are roundwound strings, but the fretboard is ebony and should be pretty resilient to wear.
Warwick does manufacture their own strings, you can buy them from your dealer
 
I'm interested in this too.... I've just ordered a fretless $$.

Both my fretless Rockbasses came with roundwounds, which I changed straight away... they have rosewood fingerboards which get pretty chewed up.

I like using TI flatties (there's another forum thread on that one) - but I may be interested in trying out some roundwounds on an ebony board and comparing tones
 
On my Fretless Warwick Custom Streamer LX 6 I use Elixir strings.
On my Fretless Custom Shamray ME-0001 I use Thomastik Infeld FLATwound strings.
 
I tried Elixir strings on a fretted bass once. The G string was totally dead, so that put me off getting more (especially at the price) - but I suppose they might be a good choice for fretless

I was recently playing on a Corvette std. Bubinga 4 Fretless and I loved the feel of the strings. I guess I'll mail Warwick on this one aswell.
 
Never had any problems with Elixir Strings. Used them for some years now..

And I'm sponsored since a couple of years back.

As a veteran fretless player, I've seen over time that round wound strings will abrade even ebony fingerboards. I've found the best happy medium for me by using nickel half-rounds from D'addario. They have much of the string tone of the round wounds, but are not nearly as abrasive to the fingerboard. Hope this helps.
 
No matter what kind of string you use, there will be some fingerboard wear over time. I would suggest D'Addario Chromes flatwounds. I was a big HalfRound fan for years, but now just string my Thumb up with Chromes.
